Hey, here's an idea.

You can change the gems around to find the highest DPS.

You change a gem, DPS changes.

What a concept, huh?

That is true, but if your not hit-capped, having a higher dps won't necessarily help you if you can't hit the boss.

So wouldn't you first get capped, then go for improved dps damage ?????

I believe the spreadsheets that I've seen take hit/miss percentages into account in the final DPS estimate. So changing the gems in the spreadsheet will change your hit/miss, which will change your total average DPS in the final sum.

The 5hit/5agi are good for meeting meta gem requirements or very good socket bonuses. But generally there won't be a time to "switch" out pure hit gems for mixed ones until t6 gear level (i.e. hit-capped). Hit is just such a huge DPS stat for us that it's hard to argue losing any in preference for something else. Again, check out the spreadsheet or better yet, do some informal tests of your own if you can.

Personally (and it's JUST a personal choice really) I'm not running head-long to the hit cap (well, now that I'm over 300). I prefer +hit of course, but I try to level the other important stats in proportion to any increase to hit. Also note that I use a few different pieces of gear (Poison Vial anyone?) for bosses compared to trash. Right now I'm looking to gain a bit more hit (I'll be happier 320+), some haste and expertise (highly underrated). But just remember that hit is the best rating-to-dps ratio for us available and it's not to be ignored until you're wasting points after the "cap."

Good luck!

Spreadsheets take into account hit rating for DPS, otherwise they'd be worthless.

Most of the time hitting your cap isn't that great of an idea. Around 300 hit should be fine, just make sure you check our your spreadsheets and stuff.

My guild is just starting ssc / tk and in order to further upgrade i need to roll bt > . So off i go to pug (hopefully on another guilds run since full pugs are fail) but they see my hit and ignore the fact that im doing 1k dps. Anyway here is my armory link if it helps.

1000 DPS with your gear is pathetic.

Why do people come to the Rogue forums and expect Theo or several others here to be nice?

Its criticism, use it to make yourself better or go QQ more.

Also use the ******* spreadsheet...that should be the title for the Rogue forums.

Far as I can tell, you should be doing more than 1k even with that low hit rating. /shrug

This is EXTREMELY laughable. Someone with two posts berating me for not helping people?

Here's a list:

The Rogue Compendium might as well be the new rogue forum FAQ.

I've also written an interface guide, a PvP FAQ, as well as uploaded my UI at the request of users on this forum multiple times (which you guys may be excited to hear that I'm close to releasing v6 in the next week or two).

So yeah, I've not done ANYTHING for this forum. It's not like my threads have gotten more views than most stickies. Smiley: rolleyes
