Mutilate strategies?Follow

#1 Jun 18 2008 at 9:04 PM Rating: Decent
This may be stupid of me, and the rogue boards are flame heavy *cower* but I'll post again anyway, because I want answers, and I'm pretty sure this wasn't covered anywhere.... if i missed it, link me to it, and ill go away ^_^ But I'm a sub rogue, thinking of going mut for my 2v2 with another sub rogue. First of all, is this a good idea? (I've read all the theo guides and such, but I'm still a lil confused.) and second, if it IS, what are the strategies for mut PvP? Like what opener, and things like that... I've always been sub and am otherwise quite noobish to rogue things. lulz Thanks in advance for any help and/or flames :P

Rogue/rogue should both be sub. Use the spec on my armory; one of you may want to pick up Imp EA by taking 2 point out of Lethality, but other than that, you both need to be sub.

Alright cool. Thanks again, man. I'll stay sub, and take the EA. Then I guess we'll just hope for the best! >.>

Edit after fully checking out your spec and weaps:

So what are your strategies? I've always been dagger with ambush/backstab. And obviously 2x swords doesn't do that XD so now I guess I'm repeating the second half of my original question, but applying it to subtlety. What a twist of fates.

I wouldn't be so affirmative as saying that both HAVE TO be sub.

I've played both recently (in both case with the same type of weapons quality: badge) and I can tell the difference: much higher survivability and ability to stick to your target as Sub... but MUCH better burst damage as Mut and also much more powerful poisons which is huge.

Since a double dps team HAS TO be able to drop a target fast, it might make sense if one of them was mut (better poisons are great against druid teams and Imp KS giving a 9% dam bonus to both rogues).

If I was to team with another rogue, I guess I'd respec mut if he wasn't.

No, double rogue has to be shs.

for once i agree with theo. one of the benefits of being mut is quick recovery. this really only benefits if you have a healer. yes you need burst in double dps 2v2, but you need to survive as well. dead rogues do no damage, right?

No, double rogue has to be shs.

this site includes Akrios, maker of the Eviscerate series of pvp videos, and Nition, Akrios has been Mutilate for very long and him and Nition have done well, recently Akrios gave in to Sub but they did muti/sub and did very well... mind you Akrios and Nition definitely know how to pull it off but still this proves it can be done.

Akrios is one of the best rogues in the world. Thinking that any rogue can do what he does is beyond stupid.

Even Akrios will admit that shs/shs is the best setup for rogue/rogue.

Yes it can be done; I've seen 0/31/30 and ShS get to 2300. Does that mean it's the best/easiest?

Hell ******* no.
