Precision or Imp Righteous FuryFollow

I'm working on a Holy build, 41/20, and I'm debating 3 of the points between Precision and Imp Righteous Fury. I think Precision would be nice because of the Hit/Spell hit for the soloing of quests/dailies. Yet, whenever I look at peoples Holy builds, they always have Imp Righteous Fury, is the 6% damage reduction that great? What benefit does it have that I'm not seeing?

Please, help me understand the rationale behind choosing one over the other.

Thanks!

imp RF is mainly for pvp and PvE tanking. 6% less dmg in pvp is alot imo ;)

I guess if you don't PvP, or not much, take Precision. If you do PvP, take Imp. Righteous Fury.

Also keep in mind (though I may get a lot of flack for this =P) even with Imp. Righteous Fury active your heals will generate less threat then other healing classes. So if you had the talent, you could even use it outside of PvP in situations where you will be taking damage (AOE or multi target damage, random aggro targets, etc..) to ease your own healing burden and that of the other healers. Some things that come to mind right away where this would help greatly are Shade of Aran and Illhoof in Karazhan and various pulls in Magister's Terrace.

Especially if you find yourself meleeing a lot. Note the tooltip on precision. It's not spell hit, just melee. So, again, unless you're relying on your 41.4 DPS one-hander...

Seriously unless you're whacking crap a lot with your sword the dmg reduction (the threat increase just brings you up with the rest the of the healers - Salv on yourself and you're good to go) from RF is probably going to do you more than precision unless you're spending more time out of instances and raids than in.

Umm, wrong. Precision increases BOTH spell hit and melee hit by 3%.

Yea Precision used to be just melee hit, but is both melee and spell hit now. Has been for a while, though I can't remember exactly when they changed it. But regardless of that fact as a Holy Paladin I would say Imp. Righteous Fury has much more use then Precision.

actually, I will thus amend my previous post: just go with Imp. Righteous Fury :P

Or, you could try Redoubt or something like that. It's a good skill if you really want to annoy rogues. :) Not really useful, but fun when it does proc.

In reality, Imp RF is your best bet as long as you don't have aggro issues (which you shouldn't).

I think another reason for taking imp righteous fury is that there are some boss fights in which attacks will randomly target the highest heal aggro (like nightbane) so by having righteous fury up the pally (who will most likely have the most hp/armor) will be able to take the least amount of damage as well as aoe tank to clean up those adds.

This. Threat should rarely be a problem for you while grouping and will NEVER be a problem for you while soloing. Six percent less damage across the board is amazing. That's far more equivalent stamina than a Spicy Crawdad or priest's Stam buff. On the other hand I can't imagine I'd even notice an additional 3% to hit.

Precision is a retadin and protadin thing. You'd honestly be better off chucking the points into tha armor buff. And just get imp RF, it's not as if there's anywhere else to put the points into.

And if it does become an issue (on those rare occurrences), then just turn it off. There really is no reason that you shouldn't have this talent.

This may have been mentioned before but I'm just gonna add to it. I use Imp RF on my Holy build for 2 reasons: A'lar and Vashj

I'm healing the add tank in A'lar which means the adds come straight for me most of the time and I either bring them over to the tank or the tank taunts them off me.

On Vashj, I'm in the centre group healing the naga tank so when the naga's spawn they come straight for me and it's easy for the tank to grab them. (I also don't get one shotted by the naga's like those squishy clothies :D)

Other than that, I use it whilst soloing on dailys but that's about it. I've never found precision to be of much use as holy.
