Curse of ShadowsFollow

So, with the upcoming patch there is good news and there is bad news. The bad news is that everyone's favorite spell, Curse of Shadows, is gone now. That's right. No more Curse of Shadows. The good news? The effect is rolled into Curse of Elements. 1 less lock doing utility curses means 1 more lock owning in damage.

Sweet. It'll probably still be me on Curse Duty, but whatever, I still fight our other main lock for first, with him casting CoA and me casting CoS, we let the Fire Lock get CoE.

Make the fire lock pick up CoE duty w/ the change. His CoA/CoD isn't going to be nearly as effective.

The only issue I can see will be the bickering over who gets to lay down a CoA/CoD.

In my raids we tend to have 3 locks and 3 curses. The way I would deal with it is to let the lowest dpser get to lay down the dps curse. It's not necessarily the most dps-effective solution, but the difference will be pretty low when compared to the total raid dps.

Blizzard lost an opportunity to add holy and nature. With 6 schools, you could easily have had one curse of Shadow/Fire/Frost and another for Arcane/Nature/Holy. There are of course issues related to tuning of encounters, but I would doubt that this would have been particularly significant.

doesn't affect my guild. we never raid with enough fire mages to bother using CoE, this just means that the CoS lock now switches to doing CoE instead... lol

Thanks warlocks for keeping my dps as high as it can be, and now with less effort!

We normally make someone spec malediction for raids. Used to be either shadow or elements got it. Now they both do. HURRAY!

This is exactly the opposite of what you should be doing, unless your tank has threat issues.

Well, most warlocks who are on par with the gear curve are threat capped on their tank without laying down CoD/CoA. So doing so only hurts us more on threat, and having to back off on bolting so we can damage curse is counter-productive.

Ergo, when threat capped, give the ****** the extra damage.

when threat capped, yell at the tank for being a noob. short of special bosses who have damage bonuses (RoS for example) or bosses that dump threat (bloodboil), threat capping shouldn't occur with the right tanking ability rotation+gear and good timing of soulshatter

Your're a smart guy timelord - you've managed to retort with a point I had already made. If you're raid needs the extra 20dps to down Brutallus - then by all means, but in the meanwhile, my point (I thought this was obvious btw) deals with the politics of managing a warlock team and keeping them happy.

Pray tell me about how you deal with Brutallus ? or Muru even ?

This does nothing for me, since i'm demon specced and i use coa. I can see the benefit to a destro lock though.

CoR-Not as low as the CoA lock.
CoE-Malediction
CoA-Lowest dpser
CoD-destro spec
