Gearing up your deathknight?Follow

Very simnple; just wondering if people are buying (or making) level 55 blue (or epic) gear to equip to their death knight as soon as you create it?

Personally; I might get a few nice peices to add on before outlands hits (and my toon looks like a complete moron)

I really don't see much of a point in it for only three levels. The gear that death knights will be starting with is as good if not better than most of the blues at level 55 anyway so it's somewhat pointless to try to twink yours for three levels. On the plus side, once you get through outlands blizz is going back to naxx colors which were, IMO, the best looking of the armor sets.

I agree. I don't see much point in making/buying gear when in 3 levels you'll be getting gear far superior to all of it anyway. I suppose if you happen to find something, sure hold onto it for your DK, but still I'd personally rather just throw it on the AH, vendor it, or DE it. DKs start out with some pretty decent gear already.

For the most part I agree with you, although Redemption (Paladin) was pretty crappy and Plagueheart (Warlock) ... WTF is up with that god awful helm??? Oh well, guess they can't all be uber good looking >.<

Plus you got to figure that new zone gear will destroy Outland gear. Just like last time.

If you mean that Northrend gear will have the same effect on OL gear in that level 73 quest greens will be superior to T6/Sunwell gear, then no it wont. It's be stated by Blizz that there won't be as much a gear shock as with BC for vanilla.

But if you mean that OL gear> DK starting gear, then yeah though it probably wont look 1/1000 as cool.

Yes, Blizzard stated that the difference in gear won't be AS dramatic as when TBC came out, but I can still see Tier 4 stuff being replaced rather quickly. I remember there were people in full Tier 3 running Grull/Mag cause it was still the best gear they had (until they got multiple pieces of Tier 4 level gear), so I'd be willing to bet that Wrath will be the same way: people in Tier 6 will keep that gear until Naxx2.

My guess is Tier 4 level gear will be all gone by level 73 and Tier 5 level gear all gone by 76-77. Rough estimate :)

EDIT: and I still don't want my Paladin to have to tank in Redemption looking gear ... Eww.

Plagueheart's helmet looks insane, and consequently perfect for warlocks. Tusken Raider meets crazy.

I dunno, to me they look a bit too outlandish to be taken seriously.

I can see it now.

Warlock-"Fear me, for I am the bane of all that is living, and will offer souls to my dark masters as a sacrifice!!"
Other player-"LOL!! Hey nice bug eyes, and that color scheme!!! Did you take an Entomology class or something? And those tenticals on your shoulders, how many Draenei did you have to kill to get the right sizes?"

Really the only T3 sets I like are shammy and warrior, but meh shiny epix are shiny epix.

Warrior and Shaman were definitely bad *** sets for Tier 3. Frostfire is also one of my favorite Mage sets. Most of the other class' sets were pretty decent as well, just ugh, that Warlock set ... It's the only Warlock gear I don't like.

I think i will buy some blue item to our DK, as soom as i can creat him. cause i know all his new items are green except his sword!
And blue set can make him kill better and level uo faster.

I don't go out of my way to aquire Death Knight equipment (55-58 or outland stuff), but I've stored a few decent drops, that might help me level her somewhat faster through outland should I decide to create a Death Knight.

I don't think that there is a point in spending too much time and effort on this though. Outland items will destroy most of anything you could aquire for the three levels from 55 till you can cross through the Dark Portal and Northrend stuff will most likely do the same to those items you will gather while leveling to 68 (or whichever level will be required to enter Northrend).

Yes, Blizzard has stated that the impact of WotlK on items won't be the same as TBC had on vanilla wow items, but you should keep in mind that those Death Knights will be newly created characters who haven't run BT/MH/Sunwell ad nauseum. So they will be replacing outland greens and blues with Northrend greens and blues which more than likely will be much superior.

Saving up items for your DK for later levels, that's one thing. Gearing a DK to the teeth as soon as it's created is quite frankly a waste of money as all that gear will be replaced in 3-5 levels anyway. Not to mention that the speed at which the pre-60 levels go is stupidly fast now, and the gear a DK starts with actually looks pretty damn good. I personally would rather take any drops for pre-60 and vendor or AH them for the cash then equip them to my DK, but Outland gear for 60+, that may be a different story. To each their own though, that's just how I'll do it.
