Problem with Locks.....Follow

#1 Jun 18 2008 at 6:56 AM Rating: Default
I don't know if it's just me or what, but I can't seem to get into the deal with Warlocks. The one I have is seeming to take forever to lvl. Granted right now I'm having troubles with my computer and haven't been on for almost two weeks. But I've drifted away from my lock and haven't been playing. Who can help with my lock problem? I don't want to get rid of the lock... but unless I get the ambition to get back on there.... after I get my comp back.... I'm more than likely gonna just get rid of the thing.

link us your armory, so that we can check your gear and talent-tree.
Leveling a warlock is actally extremly fast.
You might want to read the stickies "Warlock Playstyles",
both drain-hunting and drain-tanking are really efficient methods of leveling, i myself
prefer drain-tanking.

Yes, please link us.

First thing you did right was come here. I've tried to help several players (see my recent thread) and have referred them to here and where to get useful add-ons. Some people don't listen.

Drain-tanking rocks!!! Study the stickies, show us your tree/gear and we'll advise you as best we can.

I've had a ton of fun leveling my warlock...

... you will, too.

Warlocks are not for everybody. They're my favorite class, but I don't expect everyone to be like me. Thankfully, WoW has a large number of classes and there should be one that suits you perfectly. I have no idea which class you'll finally end up with, but I do know this: You play a class best when you have fun playing it.

It really depends on your play style. Perhaps you like to fight up close or heal?

I found the lock to be really easy to level. It was even easier than leveling a hunter. Fear is amazing. I've stuck with the demo spec. I plan to solo to 70 (up to 65 now)

The downside is i haven't learned to pvp well with the lock. i have to kite more and chain fear (if possible)

but all in all, the lock is easy and fun to play.

I will be looking at the stickies. And I know my armor is weak, but I haven't had much for good drops, and the good armor is costing too much for me currently.

But there's the link, and as soon as I can get my comp fixed, I'll be sure to try anything out. I don't want to get rid of the lock, but I need something I'll enjoy to play.

I looked over your equipment. Almost all of your stuff is either +INT or +SPI, with only 1 point of +STA. For warlocks in the early stages, +STA is much more important than +INT, and +SPI is always useless. You got Drain Life at 14, and that's when the real fun begins with warlocks. Start Tapping and Draining and you will never run out of mana.

Have a plan for upgrading your equipment. I'll assume that you are in Ghostlands. Look over the rewards in the Ghostlands Quests Page, and choose which quests end up with better equipment than what you have on. For example, wow quest:Curbing The Plague will get you wow item:Ranger's Sash, which will replace the useless +SPI in your current belt with +STA. Likewise, wow quest:Report to Magister Kaendris will get you wow item:Red Silk Trousers.

You should consider putting your next 5 talent points into Improved Corruption. A second instant DoT is nothing to sneeze at. If you can afford it, you might consider re-speccing and putting the 5 points into Improved corruption right away, especially since once you start draining, you'll find yourself throwing far fewer shadowbolts.

I will most definetly keep that in mind. But first I have to get my computer working again. It's not reconizing my recovery disk so I'm going to try putting the OS on via 3.5 floppy via usb port. Hoping I'll be able to play sometime this week as I'm going through major withdrawls. Haven't been able to play in 2 weeks. And it's killing me.

I would, but I'm not the computer smart person. I've been going to a collugue at work here. And after talking to him this morning, he has told me that my hard drive is done. He tried the 3.5 floppy, and that it still hadn't worked. So I guess I'm screwed for a while, unless someone has a hard drive that is compatable to a Toshiba Satellite A105 with a min of 100 GB, preferably 150 that they don't need and are willing to sell for a low price(like under 50 bucks). Lol.

you should be able to get HDDs for under 50 bucks, but probably none with at least a hundred gigs...aim for 40-60gig

If you can part with $70, here's a 250GB drive.

edit: If you are a bit nervous about ordering computer components online, don't be. I've used Tiger Direct a lot, and have found their quality very good. You might also want to browse through Newegg's selection of mobile drives.

Well, I thank you for the offer on the hard drive, but I went to best buy sunday and bought a 250 GB for 140 and had it installed by Geek Squad for 50. Plus bought Webroot Spy Sweeper for 30. And I will be online tonight playing WoW. I gonna be a little lost at first, but all good. It won't take me long to remember what the quests are all about. Heh.

Congrats on getting your 'puter fixed! ("fixed" does not mean the same as when a veterinarian uses the word)

Thank you. I glad I got my comp back. Though haven't played my Lock yet. Just working on my lvl 35 hunter.... though I think tonight I'll be working on my lock... not sure yet.

Why do you not have any professions yet? Take two gathering professions (I am skinner/herbal) and make some $$$.

Hit the quest guide, and find out what gear will benefit you until your early 20s, where you'll run SFK for some great caster items. The posts above are spot-on: Get STA and INT. Forget about spirit. GET IMPROVED CORRUPTION!!! Leveling as affliction is FAST and addictive.

Affliction lock is probably the 2nd fastest leveller in the game. Sic, Dot, and drain. No down time, no stopping. Just a big killing spree.
