Was a mage...now a druid. need a little helpFollow

I have read countless posts and am really excited about starting my new druid. I have a lvl 37 mage and am helping out my druid using him. Which attributes do I need to buff using armor? And also I chose skinning and leatherworking as professions to make a little money and make some of my own armor in higher lvls. Was this a smart choice?

For ferals, go agility over stamina over strength. For balance go intellect over stamina over mp5 over spirit. For resto go intellect over spirit over mp5 over stamina. I'm sure someone will disagree with some of this, but basically these will work - and of course, stats don't make a huge difference in the lower levels.

Skinning / Leatherworking is worth it if you plan on making and wearing the crafted epics for a long while. If you're in a raiding guild or an arena team, leatherworking is probably not worth having. If you're more casual then leatherworking will pay off, especially if you have a lot of alts you can supply with armor kits.

For pure moneymaking go mining and herbalism, since skinning is generally the lowest moneymaker unless paired with leatherworking so you can sell armor kits, drums, blue armor sets, etc.

And welcome to the Druid way!

I'm a 70 boomkin and I'm also LW/Skinning. It's not a huge money maker, honestly I make more money crafting things and sending it to my enchanter and sending my tailor all my cloth. But, LW can be good for you if you are feral or balance. Tribal and Elemental I believe are the two Feral and Balance LW specializations. I am going tribal just need to grind a few more mats to do it all in one night, but the Windhawk set is a decent epic set to use.

For feral-Agility/stamina/armor are your most important stats (outside of defense/resil. at higher levels)

Armor-any armor that has a green number is most likely intended for ferals and our multipliers. If you have the option to enchant something besides +armor, do it...Bear armor multipliers does not effect these.

Agility-Bear-armor/dodge/crit
-Cat-dodge/ap/crit

Leather working is good if you go feral. The various armor/stamina/and epic patches are great for your own gear; as well as being able to make a lot of gear for yourself as you level, and to make the Clefthoof tanking set.

Skinning can be a great moneymaker. If you farm the rare skins in Netherstorm/SMV/Nagrand you can make a ton of money with cobra scales/thick clefthoof/fel hide etc; also the Nethercleft and Nethercobra patches sell well. The added perk of skinning (unlike other gathering professions) is that you can do your farming while leveling. You can go through 4 levels in the 60's in Nagrand while farming enough clefthoof to pay for your epic flight skill.

LW is ok. But you shouldn't think too much about the benefits of it while leveling or items that you could buy from another LW anyway. You need to look at what benefits you get at 70. The BoP epics were good, but have now been surpassed by the badge gear anyway - still they may be good for you. The Drums on the other hand are an excellent benefit to being a LW and can make a big difference to your groups DPS. The haste drum gets better & better as your gear improves.

For enchanting, you look at the ring enchants you can do for yourself. Jewelcrafters get the benefit of the BoP trinkets, some of which are excellent, as well as the BoP gems you can craft for yourself. Engineers get the excellent helms. Alchemists get the mad alchemist pots & alchmist stones which are ok, but probably not the best option for druids.

If you want a profession for making money, I would probably suggest herbing as a druid with epic flight form is the most efficient herber in the game.

I would certainly never count on crafting professions making you money (as distinct from the gathering profs). You certainly can make money with them, but they cost a lot to level in the first place, and the only sure way to make any real cash is to sit around in town spamming trade-chat - and frankly, surely you could be doing something with your play time better than standing around advertising - go do some quests or instances!

The previous posters seemed to be concerned only with stats at 70, but because you are starting a *NEW* druid (as I understood it) you should probably go feral, and focus on agility and strength, with agility being a priority. This is purely for leveling as fast as you can, and will not work as well as agi->stam->str when taking on elites or multiple enemies.
I don't know squat about resto or balance, so I won't say anything about them.

Balance and Resto would be Intel -> +Dam/Healing -> Stam -> Spirit.

MP5 would probably go between +Dam/Healing and Stam, but it's not very common until about 40-50ish.
