Do I replace Spellstrike set?Follow

I am wondering if I should replace my Spellstrike hood and pants. I currently have the Trial Fire Trousers and could probably get the Collar of Cho'gall. My guild is going T4 stuff and SSC right now. I've always wondered when is the right time to do that? I would like the extra stamina and int.

Of course if I do this I'm 23 short of the spell hit number. Is there anyone who's already done this who can tell me if I should and where to get the extra spell hit? Should I just try for the Amani Punisher? That would upgrade my dmg and take care of the spell hit pretty much.

If you want to replace it and have trial-fire I would suggest the hood of hexing off of hexlord (probably the best upgrade from spellstrike barring tier stuff) or the cowl off of Fel Reaver.

Void Reaver :)

But yes, I agree. The collar of cho'gall is not a good choice, you need to get something to make up for the loss of spell hit from the pants and with enough +dmg to make up for losing the set bonus.

So Fel Reaver's cowl I will attempt to get...should I spend some badges on Legwraps of the Sweltering Flame? Or is there a similar upgrade to those I could get from a raid? I think those are on par with T6 tho.

ah void reaver, right. Haven't been there in a while so I forgot lol.

Anyway, the Legwraps are also a good choice. They have a nice amount of hit and good stats. If you're replacing both pieces then that's definitely a solid combo if you're still trying to cap. I don't think there's any pants with +hit from raid instances besides the legs off Kaz'Rogal in Mt. Hyal

You don't want to break the set for crappy kara legs. You need the hood of hexing and the badge legs before you break it. At least thats my opinion.

As for the legs off kaz GOOD LUCK. These are so much better for other classes it may be a while before you get them and really they are only slightly better than the badge legs http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33584.

You shouldn't need hit, so the haste legs are so much better. You can find more hit in other places.

The only time I break my set bonus for kara legs is during Naj'entus because I have it socketed with 3x stam and stam patch, I gain like 600hp from one item.

I'de consider breaking it if you had the void reaver helm and the haste legs. Really nothing wrong with SS I'm in hyjal and BT with this stuff..

A few things I would change though..

FARM some gold please...
You need to put 9 spell damage in everything

2 belt of blasting (epics if you can)
3 spellstrike pants
2 boots (epics if you can)
3 spellstrike helm
2 shoulders (epics if you can, or if your server has hearts cheap get the crafted one)
NEVER socket stam, its pointless.

soulfrost on your season2 weapon when you get it
6 stats on your chest (maybe spirit depends on your math)
pick up the guardian neck when it comes out and toss orange haste/spelldamage in it
your helm needs a glyph of power
shoulder need exalted aldor enchant
cloak could use subtly but thats kind of eh
wrist needs spellpower (or int if your cheap and close to badge or craftable wrist)
boots need vitality or stam if you really want

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35749 for your trinket until you buy the blessing deck

pretty much you have a great start, just need about 1k worth of gems/enchants

Crazy,

Thanks for taking the time to provide those suggestions. So you think I should get the haste badge legs you linked instead of the Legwraps of Sweltering Flame then? I just wanted to clarify that. Either way, I won't replace them until I get the Hood of Hexing off Reaver and one of those pants.

Also, I got the Footpads of Madness from ZA. I'm just starting to understand how spell haste works. Not to muddy things up more but when should I replace my FSW boots with the Haste boots now in your opinion?

I have my pvp gear on the armory, but when I get off work I'm going to check out the rest of your suggestions, thanks again!

FSW boots are only beaten by the treads of Absolution.

Footpads of madness come in just behind FSW.

it might not be a bad idea to keep them around for when he has a good haste set going though :p

once you reach 1400 shadow damage 1haste=1 damage. before that haste is a little bit less...as far as the boots go you will be keeping them until Felmyst like the above poster said. You might want to pick up the Boots of the Shifting Nightmare off hydross since not much is an upgrade for you in ssc/tk so you won't have much to spend dkp and its not a bad item to have for fights in hyjal/bt you might need extra stam for....but thats just an option its definitely not an upgrade by any means.

And the haste legs are a lot better than the other ones even socketed.

As far as the ZA boots i'de toss'em in the bank and prob end up sharding them in a few weeks =) Your not going to ever see a reason to use them over fsw

I guess I could have put more detail in my first post :)

For spriest only 3 stats matter + hit (to the cap), + damage, and + haste. These are the only stats that have a big impact on spriest gear. (You do get some value for Int, Spirit, and crit but these are small values.)

First priority is + hit. You get more bang over time for + hit than anything else, but once you have hit the cap you get 0 further benefit. This is all about getting fewer spells resisted. Maximize this first.

As noted haste becomes more and more valuable as your +damage grows. When you reach 1400 damage haste = damage. So the easiest down and dirty way to value gear for a spriest is add haste + damage + 12 for each socket.

Gear value = (haste) + (+damage) + (# of sockets * 12) + (+hit this can be added if you are below the cap)
Gear with + hit can be thought of as having 2 values (one with +hit and one without)

No matter how you slice it the Footpads are going to be about 6 points worse than FSW boots.

Definitely keep the spellstrike legs. You're giving up 3+dmg for a huge amount of +hit. Until you're swimming in +hit (Hood of Hexing from ZA, Spellstrike pants, Belt of Blasting, and whatever else you have), keep Spellstrike, then get the badges haste ones. For health, you have shield, and until you get into Hyjal/BT, the damage you take is predictable enough that your 1.8k shields are plenty to cover any health shortages.

Crazy's suggestions are very good ones. The only thing I'd disagree on is the crafted haste wrists - get them. They're really, really good. Don't bother with the badges ones. Your server has 2 Horde guilds well into Sunwell and many more in BT, hearts shouldn't be too bad.

Since you're in your PvP set, I'll add that you need Timbal's Focusing Crystal from heroic MrT if you don't have it yet.
