Profession Question (I know, and I'm sorry)Follow

Alright, so here's my predicament.

I'm leveling both Herbalism and Skinning for kicks and giggles, but also because when I get around to doing endgame content on him I want those professions to work for me. My main is a L70 raiding mage, so I wanted to try out something a wee bit different. I decided on leveling a shaman and going resto once I hit 70 (yeah, I know, what's new?)

Anyways, once I get to 70 I plan on leveling either Alchemy or Leatherworking (or both, kinda depends). To do that I'll have to drop one of the gathering professions, so obviously it would go something like this:

Drop Skinning-
2 Professions: Alchemy/Herbalism

Drop Herbalism-
2 Professions: Leatherworking/Skinning

Drop both-
2 Professions: Leatherworking/Alchemy

I kind of like the idea of Alchemy because I could use a pot/flask mule, and that Redeemer's Alchemist Stone is pretty nice. But really what I want to know is: Is the trinket worth the hassle (and expense >.<) to get?

With Leatherworking, I want to know if I can even craft any gear worthwhile at all for a resto shaman. My main being a mage, I was wondering if there was like a Spellfire/Spellstrike set for resto shamans. Or, is Leatherworking completely useless in that regard and worth tossing out the window.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses (yes, feel free to flame me if this is in the sticky or something, I checked [really, I did =P])

Cheers,
Rip

Really most of what people use LW for is for drums (haste).

The stone is absolutely 100% one of the best trinkets for healing classes.

I'd only debate between Engineering for goggles and LW for drums, but honestly as you'll be in a healing group, the drums are amazing.

I'd take a look at elitistjerks' theorycrafting forum for more info.

Along with what Theo said, Alchemy is great. Especially as a healer, you can make all the Super Mana Pots you want (especially if you're a potions master). Plus the trinket is pretty great.

As for leatherworking, there is Dragonscale leatherworking to make mail armor. Personally, I don't have that profession, but the armor that I have seen looks pretty cool. You may be able to search for Dragonscale LW recipes at the bar above.

Other than that, I do highly recommend taking up alchemy. Not only can you use the mana pots, but as a healer you can make the Elixirs of Healing Power and Elixir of Draenic Wisdom. Both of which help a lot.
