Having a Hard timeFollow

#1 Jun 17 2008 at 4:30 PM Rating: Decent
I used to play WoW about 6 months ago on, had a 70 Warlock and loved it. Then I stopped and have decided to play again, I decided Warrior, just because I could. Anyways, Im level 12 and I find Im having a hard time soloing right now and I die quite often.

Also, is it worth it to stack sunders at this level?

It's never really worth it to stack sunders because fights don't last long enoungh for the rage spent on sunders to be better spent than on, say (at this level) heroic strike or rend. Find yourself a big fat 2 hander and use the following battle sequence: start with charge, refresh battle shout if needed, rend, and then heroic strike/overpower whenever possible.

Also, I'd recommend speccing 5 points into cruelty and then proceeding to work your way up the arms tree to mortal strike. IMO dual wield/fury isn't a very viable spec until the 40's when you can get some +hit gear.

Thanks for the reply.

Ya, at the moment im getting 5/5 in cruelty, then mortal strike is what I will going up towards. Is it normal though to have trouble at low levels, does it get easier?

I leveled my warrior so long ago that I honestly can't remember. There are some things you can do to make it easier though. Level up first aid and always keep a stack of food on you so that you have little downtime. Don't try to take more than 1-2 mobs at once, because warriors have trouble damaging multiple enemies at once especially at early levels. For your professions choose skinning and either mining or herbalism to make quick cash. I'm leveling up my shaman at the moment, and from both skills I have 600g at level 45. Use the money you make to purchase gear every few levels because warriors are the most gear dependent class. Other than that, experiment and see what works for you.

You can expect to die a good ammount leveling warrior its one of the most difficult classes to solo to 70 as. because fo our lack of healing and ability to take on more than 1 mob without it being a tough fight.

It does get a little easier when you get sweeping strikes but generally you have to be very careful at pulling monsters throughout your career. However if you can find a friendly healer to duo with you guys can be unstopable.

Just some battle tactics:
make sure you use Thunderclap and Demoralizing Shout i know many warriors who dont and they solo a lot slower because they constantly have to stop and rest these 2 skills can greatly decrease the ammount of damage you take in battle. (be careful both are AoE another reason to pull carefully)

Youll get the hang of warrior solo eventually it is very frustrating in the begininng just dont get discouraged its really an amazing class and well worth the work. GL (^_^)b

i'm leveling my second warrior now, and going dual wield fury (you get dual wield at 20). maybe knowing how to play the class helps, but i am blowing through the levels quite easily.

keep your shouts up at all times (battle/demo), along with thunderclap. aside from that just hit the mobs, and use overpower whenever it lights up. use heroic strike whenever you have enough rage to spare, but sunder is not worthwhile unless you're in an instance. rend works ok until about level 20, then it starts to really suck and soon it's next to worthless. hamstring humanoids at ~30% health or they cause trouble.

eat stam food that's your level and you must keep your gear updated, especially your weapons. warriors are way more gear dependent than locks. about every five levels, replace any greens that are falling behind with stuff from the AH. strength is your biggest friend here.

you can also use armor potions, fortitude elixirs, etc. all that stuff is extremely cheap on the AH at that level from people leveling their professions.

So I've been using Thunderclap more and I think its helping actually, I just need to practice my pulls more so im only 1 on 1. Once I get to level 20 i'll come back to let you know how it goes.

At level 14, you'll have access to Demoralizing Shout. Learn it, use it.

Level 30 will be a milestone level. You will get Berserker Stance. But also look into The Windwatcher quest chain. You will need the assistance of a group or a high level friend. With one level 70 helper, you can complete this in 2-3 hours of gathering mats and killing mobs. The reward will be a level 40 blue (rare) 2H weapon. It will last you until the low 40's. Enchant it and things will get much easier.

At level 40, you get plate armor.

Get Piercing Howl, if you get 11 points down the Fury Tree. It's an AoE hamstring, basically. I've saved myself many times from an OH CRAP situation by retreating and spammming PH if they get too close.

As mentioned, keep the equipment current as possible. Replace anything more that 4-5 levels old. Finances will dictate this, obviously.

As far as professions, IMO go with gathering at first, as Sonmnus mentioned. Pick up mining and maybe skinning. Sell what mats you don't store for later leveling of a crafting profession if you aim to. That's another topic.

I remember having trouble at first, also, compared to the casting classes. But it will get easier.

Warriors are a money sink before they even think about crafting professions, so like everybody recommends 2 gathering professions are a must unless you have a rich main.

The Windwatcher quest - a lvl 70 (i.e. your warlock) can collect the mats in about 45 mins, or less. Then, just ask a guildie to help you kill the lvl 40 elite. Well planned, this shouldn't take you more than 1 hour. Great weapons too. If you do this at lvl 30, you will be going through mobs insanely fast.

I don't know if anyone is reading this thread still, but is this build any good?

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=LVMcdGbqMbzZVVzmMxRV

If not, what can I change? It's mostly for PvE, then at 60 I might change to prot for tanking instances but until then I can just tank with any spec anyways. Then at 70 I will be switching between PvP and Raids.

Anyways, I guess what im trying to say is that its for PvE mostly, and I want to work towards MS before anything (except those first 5 into cruelty).

Thanks.

Regarding your talent, that is mostly a PVP "casual player build" spec, this is just my opinion regarding your talent tree choice

Talent wise in the Arms
* Unless you wish to dual-wield, better to max out 2-Hand specialization, that is your means of 2-hand DPS
* Improved Hamstring is not good in the PVE server, this is mostly useful in battlegrounds and arena
* Mace specialization might hamper your rage generation, better to choose either Axe/polearms or sword specialzations, unless you wish to PVP
* Anger Management is OK, that point can go somewhere else but it is your choice
* Try to max out Blood frenzy, extra 4% increase in physical dmg can mean less downtime
* Second Wind, unless you are in a PVE, works well when you get ganked in PVP environment

Talent wise in Fury
* Unbridled Wrath is not a good choice as it only generate extra 1 rage point, exchange those points into Improved Demoralizing shout
* Exchange some of your flurry points into Improved Slam, this works well with 2-hand specialization, try work a slam-MS rotation

Guess that sums up my opinion regarding your talent choice

Not to be nit picky, but 5/5 imp demo shout is useless unless in a full raid or specced for pvp.

So you wanna pvp?

33/25/3 is a strong multi-tier pvp build, arena and bg's. Can OT...
31/30/0 is a strong solo and bg build.
33/28/0 is a good bg and semi-raid capable.

Honestly. Once you get going fully at lvl 70 you'll repsec for raid and respec for pvp, every time you choose to do those things. Dailies take care of a majority of the cash flow. You can make an easy 100+G a day, with very little effort (just time spent doing them and learning them). And respecs only cost up to 50 G per.

::EDIT::

Typo.
