Sub par DPSFollow

So I have grown frustrated with mage and am about to retire (again). From my tanking experience I know there are some crappy mages out there and there are some "HOLY CRAP they hit hard" mages. I have been trying to be one of the later. For whatever reason I am stuck dps-wise. I don't know what it is. I don't know why it is. All I know is I am consistently #2 or 3 in the dps meters even with some party members still rocking a green or two. If I hammer it hard I can creep up there but it just feels like I am having to cycle every cooldown, take every risk and tick my tanks and healers off just to do my job.

I gotta be doing something wrong. Below I listed my spell rotation, armory link and bank account numbers. Help me suck less and you can have all my debt. Hopefully some of the posts will provide tips for some folks that are going through what I am but to shy (or proud) to grovel for pointers.

Spell rotation: Trash - Arcane missile, arcane blast x3, Arcane Missile, Fire Blast or scorch depending on mob health
Boss - Arcane missile, Arcane Blast x3, Arcane Missile, Scorch, Arc. Blast x3, Scorch x4, PoM Pyro, Fireball till dead

This is especially useful in groups where you do not have a paladin for Blessing of Salvation. The high reduction in threat coupled with the DPS will really add up.

I'd recommend cutting out the arcane portion of your rotation and stick with the (boring) efficient 2x scorch fireball until dead for trash and then 5 scorch/8 fireballs then refresh scorch rotation. Capping your hit will also increase your DPS by an enormous amount by getting rid of almost all resists.
