#1 Jun 16 2008 at 2:30 PM Rating: Default
i have never played a hunter and am righting this for a friend that is to lazy
so give me a break if it is stupid
also i looked on petopia for an answer to this and couldn't find anything that seemed to relate

my friend has a lvl 70 hunter and after respecing the pet a few times she said she was not able to learn as many active ability
she sais in the biginning she could learn 4 but after a couple respecs she could only learn 2 before it told her the pet could learn no more tricks
she has points left over after learning all it will let her
and she still has the abillities she wants to train the pet in her list of teachable skills it just will not let her teach the pet
she has had this pet since lvl 50 or so
is there something she is missing do you have to regain anything after you respec or something

thnks for any responses
and if you ever need a good priest call me
if you ever need a good hunter DONT CALL HER

Pets can relearn all their previously learned skills. Respecing a pet does not make them unable to do this. Read up over on Petopia:

While the english skills need work, that certainly isn't a restriction posting here...

I don't know why this is sub-d'd and the person is addressing a real problem if being a hunter is not your class or have never respec'd and suddenly lost abilities before.

So, theivenroge, if I am understanding you correctly- in essence you are asking how about the process of respec'ing a hunter and losing pet skills. This is true. Everytime you respec your hunter you can lose some pet abilities. When you re-learn your pet, the hunter doesn't lose any abilities, just the pet.

It's best to realize you'll likely need to unlearn the pet when the hunter respec's. Just start from scratch on both since it's easiest. Respec the hunter and make sure to learn ANY skills the pet will need to relearn as well. After you are done choosing the hunter talents, RETRAIN the pet the way you want them.

This process is not intuitive and can be a pain in the tushy. If it looks wrong, it likely IS wrong. You may have to re-do the pet a couple of times if you keep ******** the points up. Select carefully and with consideration. Unless you're BM spec, it likely won't matter much anyway. Pet survivability can be iffy in endgame. It takes really good pet control to keep them alive in PvE and if you are in high end Arena, apparently they are fun targets as well.

Tell your friend good luck and stop picking on her. She just needs to learn like we all did at one point in time. Hunters are a hard class to learn how to play right and few ever truely master it.

Make sure that the skills that she's trying to teach the pet are available to that particular type of beast. Each type of pet can only learn certain abilities, so trying to teach a cat Gore won't go over too well.

And Yupply, how can you even dare call this a troll attempt? These are legitimate questions that are not answered in the sticky, and probably not clearly answered on petopia.

As a foreigner, I'm not one to throw rocks, but... damn.

Don't get me wrong. Considering the guy is posting from what I'm guessing is Jacksonville, North Carolina, I take it dyslexia is involved, which is no one's fault.

Dyslexia is a poor fuckin' excuse which has been thrown around excessively. It's being lazy. It's not dyslexia, it's not being foreign, it's not being poorly educated, it's not being young. It's lazyness or severe head trauma.

Seriously, are you retarded? If so, stay the fuck off my damn internet. If not, stop being so fuckin' lazy.

How many mistakes in the first sentence?

No capitalization of I, as it is the start of the sentence. Not a topic sentence. You spelled writing wrong. Too is the correct form. No ending punctuation mark, such as a period ->. I think that you are writing this for yourself, because if your "friend" saw that you were writing this, he would be ashamed to have told you to write this and waste our time. Or, he is equally as retarded as you are.

I for one agree with ProjectMidnight as English is not my main language and if it was not for the spell checker i would be making many mistakes .

Living in England has shown me that the English exams are to put it mildly very wrong as i constantly see so called exam passers that cannot spell or construct a real sentence without making some mistakes that even i can tell are wrong , and they often ask me how to spell things so i know that they cannot spell things correctly.

Even in the Newspapers here i see constant mistakes so it is a widespread thing , ask any teen here to check spelling and a lot will not even see a mistake , so please relax a little guys and girls , not everyone has been taught correctly or have the ability to write correctly in english , so as long as they get the basic question across what's the problem ?

Hmmm what i think the trouble is that your friend is investing in the top ranking stamina and armor abilities and then moving to the abilities.

Those 2 buffs [highest ranks] eat up a lot of points and you dont have enough for much else. Tell your friend to buy all 4 highest ranked abilities for the pet and cobra reflexes first. You cant get the top ranks of armor and stamina, you dont need to get them too.

Then go on to everything else. if the pet is going to tank for you for solo and grind work, have some armor ranks. More stamina ranks than armor.

If your friend is raiding or doing heroics and 5 mans with the pet, invest in avoidance and in the resistance ranks of whatever is the main source of enemy magic in the dungeon or raid. NO armor ranks, cause your pet shouldnt be getting hit by anything except AOE and volley attacks. Stamina ranks help too.

petopia has a talent calculator for pets [or at least links to 2 very good ones]. Give them to your friend and have him or her check it out.

Hey, if Yuppley is right and it is a troll post then it has worked flawlessly. It has established forum members tossing flaming responses around and calling each other names.

How hard is it to decide if you want to respond to the post? You read (or attempt to read) it and go "Gee, I have something <insert one or more: positive, funny, similar, instructional, or helpful> to add." or "I have nothing good to say about this post and want it to die a horrible death so I'll shut up and ignore it."

If you really want trolls to die, ignore their bait. If you want them to get their jollies, by all means, continue responding and insulting them. If you really want to make them howl with enjoyment, take on your fellow forum members- whom you should be looking out for even if you don't agree with them.

So cool the flames, the OP has his answers and let it go.

That would be boring. I derive simple enjoyment from composing these little ditties I can hum contentedly while skipping along to the flowershop where I giggle and bat my eyelashes at random strangers...

So, we've determined that North really *IS* a troll, just one we've legitimized... ^_^

... and that Yuppley reads Robert Aspirin's Myth series.

Trollop indeed! LOL!

Since when has this ever been in question? I stopped being useful on these boards after Sayis (my Jiminy Cricket or "good conscience") left the boards.

Sorry, did I add an extra character? Asprin... oops.

And North, every board has to have it's baddy to keep all the kiddies in line, "Behave yourself or the mean ol' North will come and bite off your heads and drink your blood." kind of thing.

This board doesn't need Jiminy Crickett, and since I can't whistle, I'll just play the carebare role. I'll have to watch you closely though, you seem to have Yuppley as troll in training and we can't have two legit trolls or you get trollwars and those never end nicely. I'll know it starts when he stabs you in the back.

This is why I stick to the Druid/Shaman boards. On the first I'm like Bruce Wayne, but once I enter the Shaman forum.. I'm.. I'm..

1) I am helpful and informative, not a troll.

2) If I were a troll, why would I troll fight against North? North is awesome sex.

3) Like I said above, I would never stab North in the back. Except for those certain situations. Involving awesome sex.

My approach to this board is that we're not anyone's babysitter. This is a hunter discussion board not a primer. If someone does their research and comes with a good question they are welcome, but if they ask a question that they could have figured out themselves, they aren't welcome.

Now the OP wasn't really a bad question, just a bad typing job. I don't really care, when I can't read something I just ignore it. Capitalization and spelling are not honest mistakes they are laziness. Subtle grammar problems are honest mistakes.

Maybe this forum should turn into "How to type correctly". I see so many get trashed cause of typoes or a few gramatical errors. So he mispelled a word or 2. Sue him. He wasn't asking his question on how to type. Who you should be critizing is the one who was to lazy to type his own question. If I were a scholar or sage on here I'd spend more time helping and setting an example then trashing someone for typos and having them never come to this site again.

i gess i had no clew that typoes werre a crime on the forrems!

This.

Plus, ENTER, it's a button about 2/3rds of the way across the keyboard (assuming you are a QWERTY) and a little more than half way down. Try it, you may like it.

I refuse to read walls of text that remind me of the Matrix scenes where the "computer program world" is exposed by Mr. Anderson, or Neo as some people like to call him.
