Is it just me?Follow

Or is leveling a shaman hard as hell? I'm having a REALLY hard time leveling my shaman right now, 1-10 was cake (but hey, isn't any class 1-10 cake?) Then all the sudden it went down an extremely steep slope. I'm 29 right now and I'm growing....disgusted to say the least in the difficulty of leveling my shaman.

When does it get better? Does it even get better...?

I mean if I don't eat/drink after every 2 mobs or so the 3rd mob is likely to kill me. Period.

:(

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm leveling enchancement and I'm using a 2h Axe from BFD. Reef Axe.

I'm finding it pretty easy to level my shaman. In the last couple days, I've gone from 13-28. That's including doing BGs, a 25-man, and a full kara plus a few heroics on my other toon, so it hasn't been just a straight grind. I would say that's pretty quick leveling.

I find that whether I'm beating on mobs 2 levels lower than me or 2 levels higher, I still run out of mana in about 2-3 fights. I'm currently taking on level 30-31 mobs with relative ease(28 enh), although if I had an add, it'd spell trouble. Instead of using a 2-handed weapon, I have a blue mace + shield from SFK. It's working out well, but I'll need to switch it out for something better soon. Having a shield will help reduce the damage taken, and it will essentially allow you to take on higher level mobs, or more of the lesser ones.

i had the reef axe at your level and found the same thing, i found i just wasnt hitting for enough to not need to burn mana.
When you get WF things become a little bit easier, although at 1st you may think you aren;t doing as much damage due to the lack of FT damage or rockbiter dps, but when you WF hits crit amagad you notice it lol.

Then when you hiy 41 and have both DW and SS mobs jsut die because you look at them

Here's my Armory profile.

Notice the gear. Notice the level. Notice the talent build.

I have no issues. Haven't died to anything but a level 70 Rogue since god knows when. Level 47 or so.

It's not just you. Leveling a Shaman from 10-39 is a chore and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. However, once you do get to 40 (or rather, 41 when you've got both SS and Dual Wield), it really is like redbarronthesecond said: mobs are going to die if you just give them a mean look.

If you really like the class (or think you're going to like it), stick around for another 12 levels. If not, save yourself the trouble and bail out now.

I actually had no trouble leveling until about 50 or so--of course, I leveled Resto, and spent about four hours a day healing instances. Doing an instance to get a bit of a boost towards the next level when you're having trouble with the quests isn't a bad idea for anyone, though.

It's good to hear that leveling to 39 is a chore. It's seemed easy so far(lvl 30), but I cant wait to hit 40. Sounds like it'll be a breeze.

Luckily, when I leveled my shaman I was friends with a warrior and another shaman, so we usually just ran around banging out quests as a pair. Solo at the pre-40 levels was tough, shaman do not have a cc or anything to rely on in the event we run oom and get an add...

It does get better, a lot better! I can tell you, an enhancement shaman becomes one of the most efficient PvE farmers after a while, you will chop through mobs like butter and SR and watershield will keep your mana up.

Do you guys have any idea what farming/dailies/etc is like on a Resto shaman?

On a scale of 1-10 how is Enhancement and Restoration?

In regards to farming and doing dailies between enchancement and resto, it all depends on the person.

I levelled as enchanced up until 60, then switched to elemental to try it out and stayed there until 70 when I switched to Resto.

Honestly, being enhanced would make a it tad easier doing dailies and stuff, but being resto isn't the end of the world. I have no trouble at all doing dailies and stuff as resto. Sure it takes a bit longer to take down a mob (a bit), but nothing you can't handle. Plus, if you get in a bind, you could always heal yourself.

Take the Dawnblade bombing quest (the one where you have to burn the sails then kill 6 dawnblade) for example. I gather up 6 or more dawnblades and drop my earth elemental totem. While he tanks, I heal him and throw in some random chain lbs. Makes it a heck of a lot easier.

As for the OP, I actually had a hard time from 56-58, but the rest was pretty easy. I had made myself some minor goals to take my mind off the long levelling though (like when I get to learn the next element totem, my ground mount, etc).

I have yet to see when it gets hard or a long grind. I hit 38 yesterday on my shammy and have been smashing out levels quite easily. I really have no trouble killing anything, short of pulling many extra friends or trying to kill something I have no business attacking.

So you are all saying it gets even easier at 41???? Man, I need to get on it. I have only been playing the shaman for like a little over 2 weeks. On non-raid non work nights. I work 2 jobs. So basically a couple hours each day on fri-sunday.

I LOVE the Shaman, going resto in outlands, and plan to move to WotLK with the Shaman and not with my mage, healing is my new thing :)

I've been finding it pretty easy. I guess part of it was I'm an alien, and know the whole Draenei quest chain pretty well as I've done it trice before. That moved me to 20 and I went to Eastern Kingdoms as again I'm pretty familuar with the quests there also. I'm now 35 and have been slicing through lvls pretty quick.
Also, I too went one hand and board till about lvl 33, where I picked up a 2H mace. From all the reading I've done, up till 40 all you should need to do is drop a Searing Totem and fight. Use your mana to heal yourself along the way... and I found that to work just fine.
At 35, it is slowing down a bit... but I've just started running SM and that should boost the process a bit.
My trouble is finding a good wep at this lvl. I went and looked at the loot tables for lvl 35 instance and there really is just nothing... eh.

When I leveled my shaman you could not use 2hands unless you specced for them.
Now that you can use them Im positive its much easier.

If you are not enjoying the playstyle you might be better off re-rolling to another character. You are not all that far into the level grind to be honest.

I leveled my shaman full resto from day and I must admit it was a terrible grind to say the least.
Im certianly not going to hide that fact.

Taking a look at what skills you get at level 40 -
Now you are hitting one large tier in the grind.
40 you get STORMSTRIKE!
and Chain heal.

Usually people by the time they hit 40 start to dual wield, and of course stormstrike is awesome for that from what I hear. I dont know, I never played an enchancement shammy.
You need to wait and see what 40 brings, pretty awesome talents IMO.
