Is hunter's raid dps good?
Are there any worse dps classes?
Also, what talent tree brings the best raid dps (of course not SV...)?

bm is best, you want one SV hunter per raid for their debuff, read the sticky.

1.) I'm in the top 3 every single night, many nights I'm #1. However our other hunters are... further down. The answer to this question has more to do with the skill of the player than the class itself. We have rogues that do amazing dps, and rogues that can't out dps a feral tank. Does that mean all rogues are good dps? It's the same thing.

2.) Ret paladins and moonkin.

3.) Until you're T6 level or beyond BM blows away any other spec for pure dps. I'm not 100% sure what the highest spec is once you get to T6 level, but I know a lot of hunters switch to SV.

im going to criticize you a little bit for not reading various FAQs and the stickies on the forum.
and im going to link you to some resources

first the stickies on this forum are useful.
wowwiki.com/hunter has links to tactics and talent build as well, although these are sometimes a little out of date.

wowhead.com and the wow official forums also have a lot of info. in fact the hunter section on the official WoW forums probably has a sticky w/the most information about what your asking.

now heres the simple answer

1: depends on gear/skill/build
2: depends on the other class's gear/skill/build
3: also depends because you have to look at your contribution to raid dps as a total. SV does good damage and has a lot of utility and also buffs the raid w/expose weakness. BM is highest single damage build and has a small but worthwhile buff that stacks w/other hunters. MM is a mana heavy burst build and requires a very specific itemization to be good at 70, and while its fun to level in my opinion, when you approach 70 you and your raid will probably get more damage out of other builds. MM is good for a sub build though (the tree to just dump 20 points into for lethality and mortal shots)

When in doubt, create one of each class of toon. Level them all up to level 15 or thereabouts. You'll have a decent idea of game mechanics for that class by then. Play the ones you like. Make bank mules out of the others.

I can trade them for your epic geared toons.

another thing worth considering. BM's damage is not very gear dependent, making it good for new people levelling up. MM and SV on the other hand are very gear dependent.

most classes are gear dependent in their capabilities, so to have a class/spec that isnt is nice for new players

Don't ever tell ANYONE this. That's when you start seeing level 40 hunters running around in full Mail of the Eagle.

if they are 40 and just getting mail for the heck of it then they deserve to level slowly. what i mean by BM hunter being less gear dependent is that you will get a boost in damage compared to an equally geared MM or SV hunter. its similar to how a combat rogue will outperform mut and harp rogue variations. the talents for BM hunter scale very well for people who are new 70s, and while gear will always improve your damage, being a skilled BM hunter will help make up the gear deficiency every new 70 has
