Question About Lifestealing & HuntersFollow

#1 Jun 11 2008 at 2:40 PM Rating: Default
I was reading up on stuff the other night about different enchants and about how some of them have internal CDs to keep them from being spammed. Either I'm wrong or I read what I read wrong. I didn't see anything on Lifestealing having an internal CD, but if it doesn't... here's the question...

Would it be possible for a hunter to have lifestealing on his MH and be able to spam wingclip to increase the chances of it to proc? And if so, would it be viable at all? (I know, this is where you say "A hunter shouldn't even be in melee range in the first place" to answer that, this is just hypothetical) And on top of that, would it be logical to have the enchant on both weapons? Or would it be smarter to mix it up? Lifesteal on mainhand, Mongoose on offhand?

Any feedback would be great.

Why would you ever, ever want to do that?
As you said yourself, you shouldnt be in melee.
And if you are, you want to get the **** out again.

Lol, sorry. I thought this was a forum for people to help other people and give them advice.
Not flame and bash people for what seems to be an obviously stupid question. Sorry for thinking I could give a small hypothetical question to a group of flamers, thinking that I could get a small, decent, educated response. I'll think before I type next time.

If only you had done this the first time.

But if you want a real answer from someone, here: Lifestealing and Mongoose aren't viable at all. You'd get more HP from specc'ing Spirit Bond, but most hunters will tell you that even that talent isn't worth the points. If you're trying to get into Melee range to Proc Mongoose, you will lose WAY more DPS than you'd gain from the buff. Just put straight stat enchants on your weapons. 'Nuff said.

Really... It doesn't even take experience or testing to figure that one out. You just have to stop to think for a few seconds. Put your two brain cells together- trust me, two is enough for something as obvious as you asked.

And you asked if I was the one trolling. Have you ever tried actually answering someones question? As opposed to giving them the "better", "the only right way", to do it? Did I ask if I should get spirit bond? Did I ask if stat enchants would be better? No. I didn't. I asked if lifesteal could proc off wingclip an unlimited amount of times within a minute, or if it had an internal CD like Crusader. My logic behind why I would or would not have that on my MH should be of no concern to you, as it does not affect your life or your gameplay at all.

Hunters are a ranged class. They do FAR more damage from range than melee. Any melee proc enchantment is therefore worthless to hunters.

There, the straight logical answer that should have been obvious from the beginning. So far I'm giving you the thick-headed benefit of the doubt. If you continue arguing this issue, I will also assume you're trolling.

Also, for the lifestealing thing you could have just searched for it on wowhead.

I'm not asking if I should or should not run into melee and whip out raptor strike after raptor strike as if I'm some random melee huntard. That wasn't the question. I'm asking if wingclip can proc lifesteal an infinite amount of times given in a minute or if there's a CD on the proc for lifesteal.

I did look on wowhead, it didn't give me the answer.

Maybe and maybe not. Given that raptor strike is a melee strike, I suspect lifestealing probably would proc.

However your narrow question is utterly useless for hunters. We would lose far more DPS than its worth trying to get lifestealing to proc. So ultimately the answer is unimportant. So why'd you bother asking it?

Honestly? Because a friend of mine has this retardedly genius idea of whenever she was low in health (she PVPs, doesn't raid, had she been a raider this would be illogical) she would jump into melee and spam wingclip, with a lifesteal enchant on her MH and that Mark of Conquest (I think it's called, it's the trinket for hunters, etc that heal in melee damage and restore mana with ranged damage) I was simply asking if it was possible or not for her to mass proc lifesteal with her wingclip or if it's utterly pointless.

Sorry if it came off as trolling, I was just asking a question.

I know how to read. Crusader also has a formula for % to proc, but it has a limit of the times it can proc in a minute. I was asking if lifesteal had a CD or not.

Does that apply to level 70's as well? Most old enchants scaled down as you leveled past 60. At any rate, yes, if you attack more you have a better chance of procing something, but you can only attack once extra per 1.5 seconds, so it's hardly worth it.

Also, just wanted to add. Grow a freaking skin. If you think this is flaming, you need to give your head a shake

And if there was a bug in the game such that we could hit raptor strike ridiculously fast and lifesteal our opponent's heatlh to zero in one half second, I'm sure Blizz would have patched it before now.
