So, someone, I think Theo, stated in another thread is that Shamans should be Blacksmithing. Is this truly the best of the non-moneymaking professions for us?

I wouldn't know personally, but imo, I think that there really isn't an exact profession made for any class. Mainly due to the fact that all profs can help the class one way or another. I mean, sure a lot of people would say tailoring is the best for, say, mages since they'd be able to make their own armor and all, but it's not like they couldn't be blacksmiths either.

Perhaps when that was said (about blacksmithing), it was leaning toward the ability to make our own weapons (as I haven't seen the original thread)? I mean, it'd definitely be nice to be able to make my own maces and all.

Personally, I chose Engineering (for the healing goggles) and alchemy (so I can make my own pots). It's all really what you want to do (or have).

I would think they were talking about the Dual Weilding Dragonstrike Maces which are some kinda fantastic but I agree with the above poster.

Play how you want to. I personally took skinning (My shammy is my main and my farmer cuz he never has to rest and kills ever so quickly) and Leatherworking as a complement. Now my raids love me because I always have Drums of Battle up. However, I do wish I'd gone Alchemy for that trinket, or Blacksmithing for the maces.

On a positive note, Drums of Panic are fun for PvP. ;)

IMO, the best shaman professions are LW/BS for enhancement PvE. Drums of Battle + Dragonstrikes.

It's an insane group buff if you pop BL and Drums at the same time in execute range, as usually you'll have something like this as our group setup: rogue/rogue/furywarrior/shaman/retpally (or feral druid, or BM hunter).

I agree with the second guy about engineering. The bombs and stuff really help out in tight spots, plus the goggles and some of the trinkets are very useful just to pop on real quick for their use, then switch back to your pvp trinkets with a mod like equipment rack. Alchemy i havent tried, but it seems very useful. As for LW, that is a really good fit because you can make mail (dragonscale) at about the same time you can wear it. never tried it though so i dont know about the drum thing.
