A few days ago, I respecced my 39 druid to resto to try battleground healing. The first day it was pretty neat because it was so different from cat feral. Then I began to get frustrated because all I did was die. And now I think I'm getting a better handle on healing without dying quite as often.

But I want to hear your own resto strategies - preferably using the limited abilities of the 39 bracket, but I plan to respec at each bracket so it's all good.

What do you do when targeted by enemies after they yell "Kill the healer!" How to avoid running out of mana mid-battle. Who do you choose to heal first? Do you go on defense or offense? And such.

(though I'm still particularly intersted in the 'not dying' part.)

Well, I won't claim to be an expert on the 39 BG bracket, so forgive me if I mention something you don't have yet, but I'll give some general BG advice.

You're a healer, and as such are completely 100% useless by yourself (unless flag-running, though you should still ideally be with people). Your job is to follow the dps and turn the tide in their battle. Stay out of range of their ranged dps when at all possible. If you stay well behind your dps it often takes the enemy a while to realise you're there, and prioritise you for a kill. If they do decide to come after you, then they have to run through your dps, and will in all likelihood get harmed in the process.

Harass their melee when at all possible. Entangling roots is perfect for helping out your clothies some range, and Nature's Grasp is a huge lifesaver for you if you've spent the talent point(s). When under focus-fire, I usually pop barkskin (remember you can do this even while stunned), throw up a hot or two on myself and flee. If you've got a rogue gunning for you, pre-emptively casting abolish poison on yourself to get rid of crippling/wound poison can be a real lifesaver. Shift out of slows to escape.

Running off to drink (if you're a Night Elf) is 100 times easier because of shadowmeld. When you start to get low, run off in travel form and as soon as you're out of combat use a drink/shadowmeld macro.

/use Star's Tears
/cast Shadowmeld

Replace Star's Tears with Moonberry Juice or whatever your poison of choice may be.

This might be a good build to go with.

You get Natures Swiftness as well as Imp. Natures Grasp & Control of Nature to harass melee & save yourself.

Makes me want to try it out :)

OOhh, won't help against warlocks, but that's awesome advice - clothies (even only half clothies) draw the rogues like a moth to a flame.. It hadn't even occurred to me to cast abolish poison *before* I travel form to escape.

I swallowed the 20 gold to respec again since your talent suggestion is *so* much better than I crap I came up with (was trying to follow a high 40-something talent tree. ugh.) Still, I can't believe I'd been trying to do this without Nature's Swiftness (and I agree about adding in the balance talents. I've never before gone so far as Control of Nature, but I get such a kick out of rooting people with NG.)
