Thrill of the Hunt QuestionFollow

#1 Jun 10 2008 at 11:12 AM Rating: Good

Thrill of the Hunt 3/3 gives 100% chance to regain 40% of mana from any shot. On multi-shot if you are against 2 to 3 mobs and each hit crits does this stack cumulatively with Thrill? Or does it count only once?

o.O

A six post newbie who actually asked a question that will be well received? I can't bloody believe it. It's... It's like an antipodean troll just walked in the door. Anyway, I'm actually not sure at the moment and I can't get online to test it. However, I hardly think it will, since that would mean it returned 120% of Multishot's manacost. I'm not Blizzards biggest fan (some pet changes and stealth nerfs too many) but I don't think that badly of them that they wouldn't notice something like that. Besides, if it did work that way then it would be a rather huge part of the Survival Hype.

North, some SV hunters will use 3:2 when stacking haste with Quick Shots, and switch to a 1:1 for the DST proc (blackened naaru silver for some).

I am fully aware of that, but Surv enthusiasts would make sure to mention it to the prospective respeccers if Multishot added to your manapool. Seriously...

So essentially you are saying that you "Highly Doubt" that it stacks per crit...? Or is there any SV hunters who have this talent who can give some feedback from what they've seen in this regard..?

Actually, after thinking abit about this I am actually 100% convinced that it does not stack per crit until proven otherwise.
Yupply, get ingame and test this. Respecc if necessary. I have spoken.

North, I shall do your bidding, but my account is currently frozen (due to lack of a paid subscription), and I pay by game card, so it cannot be done instantaneously. I will test this as soon as possible though.

I am not saying that it does give back 40% per crit on a triple crit multi but I seem to remember floating combat text on my old SV hunter showing mana returned x 3.

Offering people 50g to do it in my guild's vent isn't working too well.

"stop theorycrafting noob, just hit ur macro lol win dps"

Smiley: laugh I see you've educated your fellow Hunters well.
I found horrific threats of violence and sexual violation of orifices they didn't even know they had worked far better than bribes. My minions rule the guild in my self-imposed absence. When I return to the guild next month I will find it ready and waiting for my rule...

This was tested a long time ago and put into my Survival Guide. Currently if all 3 shots of Multi-Shot crit, you receive mana back based on each shot, which is 40% of the shot. So yes if all 3 shots manage to crit you will receive extra mana back.

If I need to I'll record the log for my guild's Hyjal/BT run tonight and post a screen shot of it. The AE Trash in Hyjal is perfect to show you how helpful this talent is when all the Multi-Shots crit.

Not that this actuall matters all that much.
Because in nearly all places where mana matters (a.k.a bossfights) there's only 1 target to shoot.

My spec has changed a lot. Currently I have Readiness, along with just a normal SV raiding spec. (No talents into the traps though) I use Readiness a lot with Misdirection for our tanks. It helps out a lot for putting the threat cap that much higher just starting out on a boss fight. Not to mention on the Illidari Council fight it helps out a ton when the rogue is running around.

I went for more utility during the raid then DPS. This may change as our tactics and strategies improve as a guild, but for now it's already proven to be very useful.

I plan to actually make a completely different Survival Guide now that I've experienced more of the higher end content and just exactly where our roles as SV hunters comes into play. Where most think it's about having agility, it goes beyond just that. With my current spec and some gear changes I can easily get up to 920+ Agility. Fully raid buffed I've actually gotten up to 1200+ agility. Which is great for our types of raids, but there's certain pieces I need to switch out for more armor penetration, or the lovely Mother Shahraz fight where I have to wear shadow resist gear =P

This.

If there haven't been any "ZOMG, more mana back than spent!" posts about TotH befre, this will be why. Who cares about mana when clearing trash? I can't remember than last time I potted Fel Mana outside of a Boss fight.
