Frost Mage and Frost DK?

They both do tons of extra damage to frozen mobs/players and they both freeze things.

Death Knights are thought to be the way that blizz is going to balance out arena in general. With diseases, plate, and heavy cc they (supposedly) will balance out the current ridiculousness of rogues and druids as well as provide options for less represented classes such as the mage.

I don't want to get into an "agrument" with you, but isn't it way too early (even for theorycrafting)?

No. It's a discussion forum. What else are we going to discuss with alpha talents leaked, Lindsay Lohan?

Frost Mage is an obvious 2v2 DPS pairing for a double DPS, but it'd lose against as CC/healer pairing. I'd say a strong pair would be Shaman/DK, with Hex Shamans can finally take one guy out of the fight long enough for the DK to work over the other player, and everyone knows what Windfury does for a 2H class. A Restomental Shaman would be my best guess, NS + EM would equal solid spot-healing and ability to help out with the nukeage.

It might not come to pass, but damn it'd be nice for Shamans to have a viable 2v2 comp.

Paladin/DK would stop druid healer teams instantly, and the high armor would put a dent into Rogue agression. RM still might win out here, depending on how Paladins will handle CC later.

(ret/blood, I think)

DK/Healer won't work well - no mana drain, no MS effect.

I'd imagine it'd work best in 2dps, but it's hard to say. It seems like it's being built to tank damage, which doesn't make it a good double dps class. Maybe it'll be like enhancement shamans.

I can't really agree with that. The entire Unholy tree is practically hand-crafted to kill Resto Druids, and while the Blood tree lacks an MS effect, with all the self-healing talents in the tree it's not at all unreasonable to think that if it's a battle of attrition and not a race to a quick nuke-kill that a Blood-specced Death Knight will be practically unkillable by any other melee and so run their healer OOM.

Spellcasters are a different story, but caster/healer 2v2 typically doesn't work with anything outside of a Warlock, unless you count a Hunter as a caster.

As a whole though, still, I think DK's will fit more into DPSx2 teams in 2v2, but with the right healer and right spec against certain opponents, it'll work. Can't win 'em all in 2v2, the team set-up has more to do with your win here than in any other bracket. What'll matter is how many combinations you can win once all is said in done, which nobody really has a clue about and won't until DK's get figured-out, assessed, abused, rebalanced (you know it's inevitable) and filter into the arenas at 80.
