My undead mage (frost) just hit 50 this weekend. With outland looming near (and higher lvl pvp approaching), I've started to think about updating my add-ons. I'm surrently using a basic add-on bundle (I believe it was a Cosmos bundle - Cosmos, Atlasloot enhanced, mobinfo, etc) I got from Curse. I'm wondering what add-ons you more experienced mages use/recommend/consider essential? For both pve and pvp. A timer to help monitor my sheep would be nice...

On a slightly tangential note, I'm also curious about what UI's my fellow mages use.

edit: Oh yeah, I'm also interested to know which add-ons give you the floating text above your character about status etc, ie: seeing clearcasting written on the screen (either above my character of in the middle of screen) so i know that it procced, etc.

I use DoTimer for my sheeping. It works nice because I can use it on all my alts too (i.e. I have a warlock & priest).

UI - it's all about preference. Bartender is one of the most common.

Believe it or not, I actually use Healbot too. I have a healer, so I already have the addon. I use it to remove curses ASAP. Of course, Healbot is overkill if you are just using it on one toon to remove curses.

Other than that, the Sheep macro and keybindings are the only other requirements I have.

Personally, I like Cryolysis for a mage addon.

I use Crylosis (Includes sheep timer), Grid, Proximo, Quartz, Bongos, Atlasloot Enhanced, and WoW Matrix (Which is not actually an addon, it's a very useful application that updates your addons and shows new versions.)

I use cryolysis which is quite useful as a button mod and have used it for a long while. for sheep, I use a focus macro and then DoTimer to track the sheep time and xperl for the focus frame. for buttons in addition to Cryolysis i use Bongos, its a fantastic UI replacement although it can take quite a while to setup initially, its well worth it.

AtlaslootAdvanced is great as it now includes all gear sets including all crafted items, really useful when you're shopping for enchants or gems.

I use Deadly Boss Mods for alerts etc during raid eencounters and also PvP battlegrounds.

I dont have a need for the floating text, and although there are mods out there that can provide this, the main UI can do this, check out the options under Interface.

I have been using Bongos3 for my ui, its nice becuase you can set up where you want everything. I can place action bars wherever and create my own easily by just dragging the mouse. Class Timer also helps with showing the duration of your spells and how much time is left on each one. These 2 addons really come in handy when you need them.

oh one more to add to the list would be Rating Buster. Great little tool that helps you figure out whether a new gear item is better than the one you're currently wearing (sometimes its difficult to figure this out straight away). I found it really useful when it came to deciding to bid on raid loot.

Then the final point I'd add is to get yourself a nice add-on manager, wowmatrix is probably the best I've ever seen and takes the grief out of managing your addons, quite simply - "go get it now!". I say this because at present along with all my other chars I have 92 addons currently installed.
