Hey guys what are you thoughts on this? which do you think is better cause with firelocks your takin advantage of the plus fire damage spells in the destruction tree and your incinerate has less casting time but you probably will get bigger crits with shadowbolts. Ive heard people making fun of fire locks so Im curious to know which is best.

Shadow Destro is usually considered better because the Improved Shadowbolt Debuff helps the rest of the raid put out more damage. Fire Destro can generally put out better personal DPS in some cases though.

If you run with no Shadow priests and not a lot of other Locks then Fire Destro is better, however if you have 3-4+ locks and a couple shadow priests in your raid Shadow Destro is better for the raid overall. Fire Destro also need at least one Fire mage with you for Scorch.

if you have minimum 1 other shadow caster, shadow > fire for total raid dps. so simply put fire just isn't worthwhile doing unless you're very selfish

raid setup must be taken into account, if there are more then 1 warlock, lets say 2, then you can run 1 fire, 1 shadow. but if theres 1 warlock you haveta look at the other classes, if theres 1 shadowpriest, but a fire mage and an arcane mage then fire wins with Curse of Elements, as that will be 3 to benefit from CoE instead of just 2 from CoS. Fire is very viable once you get 950+ fire spell dmg.

you may think that having 1 fire lock, 1 shadow would be fine but in reality it really isn't. the increase in ISB from 1 to 2 locks is a 10-20% increase depending on crit rates of both locks which is still more of a raid dps increase than if you go fire. maybe at the point of you being the 4th warlock would being fire be more viable for the raid than going shadow, but this again is also dependant on how many Spriests there are (roughly for every Spriest added to the raid, there's a 10-15% decrease in ISB uptime, so leading to the requirement for more warlocks.

One of the main draws of Demo Sac/SnF shadow builds is that with multiple 21/40 locks you can keep ISB up longer, which is helping out the Spriest and anyone else in the group. Since the people in that group are gonna be very appreciative of the extra mana, it's more utility than fire 21/40. Which is what endgame raiding is all about really. Maximizing the *raid*'s effectiveness, not your own.

The biggest difference, I've found, between fire and shadow is Nether Protection. Enjoy Mother/Supremus/Archimonde/Teron Gorefiend without nether prot, I hear dirt naps are comfy.

I've raided as fire, and raided as shadow. Strangely enough, we're still progressing whether the warlocks are fire (shadow priest on LoA/we hate him) or if we're shadow (and we've decided to forgive him for his wicked ways.)

progression is primarily dependant on skill and not talents/gear (though obviously they help, and obviously for tanks and healers there's a much larger multiplier for gear and talents), basically being a shadow lock will make things easier for the raid, but it's not required to achieve progression.

Interesting. What would a spell rotation look like? I'm about to hit 58, and have been suggested I experiment during our Scholomance runs.
