Hello, I am a frostmage trying to do arena and It seems like, eventhough I got all enchants and the best gear honor can buy I cannot take it anywhere at all. I did try going arena for quite a while now, but even if someone bothers to go arena with me its like we meet full s3 geared guys in 7 out of 10 cases.

The only time we even progressed in arena was when I played with full s3 geared rogue and priest, but there is no real chance they would keep me, when a better geared mage came along. There is no real chance that s3 geared guys will ever play serious with me, unless I pay them -.-

I've worked my way so far, but not being able to even get near 1700 rating in any bracket is so freaking ridiculous.

Is it just too late by now to progress for someone with s1 gear? Also I know, that part of it is because of lacking skill, but could anyone please tell me how I am bloody supposed to gain exp and skill for arena when we only ever lose? My partners are also unexperienced, or just plain noobs, and noone with any real viability is bothering with me, and seriously: why should they? Mages can do no real DPS on healdruids, drain no mana and all that. It seems like classes with abilities that last longer than taking an enemy out of the fight for 7 secs (often enough even no time at all) are totally preferred.

Well I guess I'd just like to know, how any of the better PvP-mages set their team up, cuz it really is lame to meet guys who I can beat in their "IMBA" s3 gear, while my highest rating ever was about 1650.

I don't know what others think, but isn't it supposed to be only noobs and unskilled guys in the 1600 rated teams? I mean thats just so mind-blowing unfair, when my freshly set up 5v5 (1600 rating) with mainly s1 and some s3/s2 is facing a 1850 rated team with all full s3, and a rogue with both warglaives, also with according exp and skill.

no its not too late, just do not expect it to be smooth sailing. We are into late Season 3. People who are not into serious Title hunting are now either experimenting with lineup or making gold by boosting other people (which explains the large number of full S3 teams you meet).

If all you ever do is lose then you need to think about how you lost. Losing suck we all know that, but someone wins and someone loses. If you kept getting whitewashed by other teams even similarly geared ones (you can tell, it takes some training to be able to do so but you can tell what gear other people are using) then you and your teammates need to sit down think about what to do and stick to it.

You got into a RMP team before so that should give you an idea what options are available for mages, in 2s Mage Druid is not that great given that mages are quite squishy and will not be as good as opposed to Rogue Druid for example.

In terms of 1600 = noob, you will have to understand that some people got there by playing from Day 1 of the season. They grinded out some gear and they are not going to be so easy to take down. If you walk into 1600s and expect keyboard turners and its all going to be pie, cake and cheese then you are in for a shock. In any case, if you meet a 1850 team, take the lost and move on. They are 1850 for a reason, they beat you down in 20s and only take 5 points or so away. In the case where you actually won, your team would have walked away with something like 15 points.

In essence, you and your teammates need to knuckle down. Figure out what roles each of you are going to do and work out synergy and coordination. I bet you have been Pain Suppressed and Power Infused by the priest when you were playing in the RMP. Is your current priest teammate doing that? Is your rogue teammate stunnlocking something down so that you and him can dps it down quickly? Answer those questions before you complain about not being a warlock. Mages do not need to play drain wars to win.

I've right now been doing 2v2 for points, and nothing serious came along. So I just took a weird specced mage into my team, like 36/25/0 skilled or so. 4 pieces s1 INCLUDING his MH and less PvP-skills than an average car-wheel. Rest epic but all PvE.

So we start and lose, and I'm like thinking: at some point this team will hit rock bottom and thats it for then.

After 10 games 1550+ rating... Reached by me and someone of a lot lower qulity than I normally try to play with.

You must understand that I have even tried with full PvP-geared guys with some s3-pieces, even good setups with rogue and so on. The last one reduced my rating to 1470something

What I've learned from this is: the only problem I have is that finding a partner with any qualities at all is hard.

I'm not expecting it all to be cake, but seriously, I didn't learn the skills, grinded the gear and enchants and set up my interface in a way that I'm able to hand some of the s3-geared players on my server their asses back in pieces or at least seriously damage them to hear stuff like:" you need at elast s3 MH to join" thats lame cuz I can't reach 1850 rating without a serious team. And if the serious teams by now have decided, that I need a piece of gear that I cannot reach without joining, then something really bad is going down.

The only course of action I can think of right now that you can take is to find some friends who are on the same gear level as you are. If that is too vauge for understanding then lets say... the same resilience amount would do just fine.

Playing with strangers would be better since you would not be meeting up in real life to argue over who caused the last 10 losses (though its really everyone's fault). Borrowing a vent server to use would also be required. Vent in pvp is not like the kind you would get from a raid group running. Though you do need one person giving the commands since you do not really have time to type. Each and everyone should try to recognize whose voice it is or get used to saying some callsign stuff so that everyone knows who is in trouble. Heal me and help me would not cut it.

You would have to fight hard and hope you meet enough teams who are just grinding gear for upgrades. That should get you near 1700. Of course this being late season, 1650 would feel like 1750 in early season. As lower rate teams gear up the higher rate teams have moved on. The bottomed out teams would normally just disband and reform making 1500-1600s really choke full of people with gear. While I would not expect full S3 in that area, its stil highly likely.

Good thing out of all this? S4 is coming round the corner some time soon. Given that the patch has been in for a while already, it should not take too long before they patch again which should be the last patch before expac probably. You are already getting points and getting gear. The lowered prices when the new season kicks in would allow you to get some more gear and rush up a bit before you hit your ceiling again. Hopefully then you get a newer higher ceiling.

This is very important: Don't forget to say "Over" when you're done speaking. It really lets others know when they can start talking.

But seriously, Vent is very important(I prefer TS because I don't have to use PTT). By the time you've done 10 games, you should know eachothers' voices a bit.

Over.

actually did arena with vent, TS and wow-voice-thingy, but that cannot fix the problem if you only have idiots in ur group,or if they are decent, but only online once a week, thats actually my main issue as I found out.
