Alright, I am working out a shadow priest build for kara runs.
I was aiming to gain the spell hit cap at 202, but I was told by my guild members and leader that bosses in kara are different than bosses in places like black temple and those bosses are higher and that is where the hit cap is needed.
I've been told that I only need like 100 hit. Is this correct? I always assumed basicly hit capped was the way to go but am I gimping my damage output my adding way to much hit?

as far as i know all raid bosses are considered to be lvl 73. As a consequence you need to be hit capped for all. the thing is that with Shadow focus you only need 80ish spel hit rating to get to the cap.
Although I'm not that much of an expert on spell hit rating, I do know that all raid bosses are considered lvl 73, doesnt matter if youre fighting Attumen or Illidan.
as was pointed out, all raid bosses are considered lvl 73, from attunement all the way up to kil'jaeden. With that said, as a priest if you go 5/5 shadow focus (10% hit chance) then you only need 76 hit rating (6%) to reach the cap (16%). you can try and get 202 hit rating and go 0/5 shadow focus, but since you're just starting out this will be pretty unatainable.
You're not gimping your damage by getting hit capped IF you go 5/5 SF for the time being, if you gem for hit then you would be. Basically you wan't to get capped while giving up as little as possible. An easy way to achieve this is to have the spellstrike set made (gives over half the hit you need right off the bat) and have it enchanted (another 14 hit with that). That alone will put you pretty close, after that you can probably get away with a few +hit/+damage gems till you fill in your gear.
