Yes, I do realize there is currently another thread on off tanking right now, but I don't want to derail it from the posters original question.

Anyways, heres the scenario. I'm the OT for a pretty good kara guild, and for the past few months I've been running with this build. This is my armory . My armory link may or may not be accurate, since when I posted this I was still fury, for dailys and such.

Now, I am pretty much useless on things like shade of aran, pulls when I don't have to tank, bosses where if the MT dies, I'm not going to be able to survive. So, I've done some thinking and I belive I have come up with a suitable OT build.

I'm just warning you, my luck with drops is pretty terrible, so my gear isn't the best.

Thanks.

::EDIT:: Forgot to link build I came up with. ./facepalm

For normal instances/maybe heroics taht build is fine, but you ARE NOT going to be doing Ideal warrior damage with that build, nor will you be a very good tank. I'd take one or the other.

provided you can make 9% hit with precision, you could even get away with an 8/41/12 build. however, your hit rating seems abysmal (63), so i would recommend that you pick up a nice 2h sword and spec into sword spec and blood frenzy. undead mobs bleed now so a BF build actually has some merit in kara.

Yup, Off-tank in raids means just that -- tanks. You won't always be the guy on the big boss, but if hte MT goes down you will be. And you'll often find yourself having to stand up one or more 73 elites while your raid takes care of the main target.

To do that you need to be 41 deep in the prot tree. The off-tanks' job also includes keeping shouts up and TC up when called for, so you need talents that will address those needs.

If you want to go DPS for pve spec into Fury. If you want to PvP with occassional forays into PvE then spec Arms. If you want to do any sort of tanking past regular instances, then you need 41 points in Prot or more, period.
