I have always been a Marksman hunter. I leveled Marksman and really have never changed, but I have decided to help my guild and for the sake of ever doing a heroic I am thinking of going Survival.

I was wondering if anyone has any talent builds I could look at? I would also love any tips or strategy to help me become a good survival hunter. I could post my armory if need be.

There's like... 2 sticky's here.
Have you looked at either one of them?

My biggest tip is don't spec Survival if you're only doing at 'charity' to your guild or to get into heroics.

Yes SV is trapping on ez-mode (Although a lot of the SV raid specs don't bother with the trap talents) but if you're not able to successfully trap in a heroic as MM, you've not even got a firm grasp on the basics of trapping yet, and changing spec won't help you. Practice will.

It sounds cheesy as hell, but 'real' SV hunters see it as a calling and honestly enjoy playing the spec more than any other. Every time I seee a "I'm doing this for my guild" post, I shake my head as all that person will probably achieve is lesser enjoyment of the Hunter class.

Pfft don't underestimate people willing to spec things for the guild. Many upper-class guilds have a rogue spec hemo, and I know I just talked one of our hunters into speccing SV (I'm the raid leader) this past week. We tend to run melee heavy so the buff was significant. I don't really care about his damage done at this point, but seeing the buff up on bosses makes me happy.

EDIT: Honestly most of the SV raiding builds I personally like the best don't include the trap talents, as you don't use traps much (if at all) in raiding past kara.

Yes I have looked at both of them, but I am also trying to get more than one persons point of view.
It's 2 people's views from just the sticky's.
Also, both stickies have been made with help from the entire community.

We've really come to hate that excuse here.

It's (usually) 1 author writing from extensive research from this forum, Elitist Jerks, TKASomething, and pretty much anywhere else people talk about hunters. If you actually READ the stickies, you may find conversation about what is written, and also see that a lot of the information was edited later because some people didn't agree with it, or wanted to elaborate.

"Read the Stickey" Does not just encompass reading the OPs post and ignoring what everyone else has to say. Actually scan through the pages. There is a lot of information there.

Yes, start reading.
#10REDACTED, Posted: Jun 08 2008 at 9:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I appreciate you directing me to the sticky, and like I have stated I have actually read them. I am now looking for more personal opinions by more people. I understand what you are saying, but it can't hurt to look for more personal information from more people.
#11 Jun 08 2008 at 9:50 AM Rating: Good
Why? The stickies reflect a perfect average of every decent Hunter's personal opinion.
The builds within have proven to be the best builds, and any changes are up to you and not some stranger on the internet.
These things have been discussed to death repeatedly, and all the results are in the sticky.
Read them, use the info within, and stop asking such annoying questions. If you have anything new to add, feel free to hit the "post" button. Until then, read the stickies and fUck off.
#12REDACTED, Posted: Jun 08 2008 at 10:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So you are telling me that everyone who uses these forums has their information posted on that sticky?

Sorry, this forum is my castle and this thread have become my throne.
Seriously though, to show my tender, nurturing side I will give you a little bit of advice:

When several of the major regulars of a forum tells you how it is, that's how it is. Arguing isn't going to get you anywhere but sub-default.

Everyone on these forums that knows anything has contributed to those stickies.

Why are you so set on asking for opinions of joe-nobody, who may not know what he's talking about? Well HEY! He sounds convincing! I would be very VERY skeptical about anyone who contradicts the information in the stickey threads.

If you need more hard facts and examples, I'd suggest going to the Elitist Jerks forums or the TKA forums. But be warned, they won't be much nicer than us if you start saying that you don't trust their stickies and hard research, and want the opinions of the people who didn't do the testing.

On EJ the OP would have his post swiftly moved to their "Dung Heap", with suitably pithy comments describing why they received an infraction.

Seriously, CaptinXeith, you're getting good advice here. Take some of your own: Grow up. Lose the attitude and follow the advice. If you have specific questions after you've read the stickies you will find plenty of helpful people willing to elaborate. Unless, that is, you alienate everyone by arguing about things answered already in the sticky.

Sticky has 2 sample SV builds. Try both, see which you like. No one can tell you that you'll prefer Readiness, you have to figure that out for yourself.

Sticky (both of them) has/have gear guides, explanation of Talents, and plenty of "tips and tricks." Read, practice, ask questions if you can't figure something out.

I reply: Why bother asking? If you post it, you'll probably get some feedback (again, if you haven't alienated the forum). Why wait for permission, this isn't 3rd grade.

All I meant by this thread was asking what I thought would be more adivce by more people. I understand that the stickys have a lot of information, but I figured there was more opinions out there that just what was posted there. I never meant to give anyone a hard time, but I felt more important things could have been said other than "read the sticky". Like I said I never meant to give anyone a hard time, but I did start to get annoyed when all I heard was flamming. Sorry i'll leave this thread alone.

Good. Try asking again when you have more specific questions that aren't answered in stickies.

That's really the key right there. We love to answer questions that are specific and directed, but general questions aren't really useful. Your question was a "I'm here feed me, what kind of food should I eat", what we want is "Hey, I want to make a spicy ginger stir fry and was wondering whether pork or beef would go better with the ginger and snow peas".

The fact that you have to lay claim means that this forum belongs to neither of you. I think everyone knows who it truly belongs to.

/facepalm would have worked north. /picardforeheadslap is simply indicative of laziness. It's too long to convey any real meaning. Your new emote is even worse.
