I saw this. Bubble then stun at once.Follow

I was in a group questing with a Prot Pally and I watched as he bubbled and then stunned at once, and continued to attack the mob at half speed. Is there ever a reason to do this? I thought it was the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Basically you should stun or bubble, and never both, and heal when the mob is stunned or you are bubbled (or bandage when you are bubbled if conserving mana/oom)

Any reason to bubble and then stun at once?

I can't really think of one, unless it was simply some kind of mistake.

If he only did it once, I would imagine it was a fingers stumbling on the keyboard kind of thing.

Maybe if he had a debuff on him he wanted off like a curse. And then the mob was going to chase a friend of his, so he stunned it? Maybe?

But if one finds themselves using this tactic often, they really should have the macro to bubble and remove bubble setup.

It's not that dumb, but certainly situational. If your in a group tanking, and you drop low on health..you could bubble yourself (to keep from dying)..and stun the mob, because bubble does drop aggro, to keep the mob from attacking your group while you then drop bubble once your healed and the stun is wearing off.

hope the stun hits the mob. if not hope the mob doesnt crit your healer a few times if you some how dont click off that bubble. not to mention even if doesnt crit healer the healer was healing you but now has to A. stop cast and heal self or B. hope heal was casting dont get pushed back and take all day to go off. then turn around and heal them selves while your getting beat on again after 1 heal and your back to low health cause healer was takeing care of them selves. thats probaly some of the worst cases pics but the only time i could really see useing bubble is if your last one standing. even if mob goes after a dps and they get squished fight that was about to kill you is gonna take that much longer and that much harder on the healer.

dont get me wrong it could work but i for one really wouldnt chance it. i would rather stun the mob and toss out a flash of light/click a pot/loh.

bubble + stun is good in arenas when youre trying to get bubble to last long enough vs a priest. bubble yourself, stun the priest, then commence healing with the knowledge that youve got at least two uninterruptable heals in you.

of course, this only works if the priest has his trinket down, but thats generally not too hard to do in most cases.

Its possible that he also had Seal of Command which when judged does significantly more dam to a stunned mob. Other than that can't think of any reason to bubble+stun when questing, sure examples have been given for tanking and pvp, but for simple questing this seems a complete waste.

Was the mob an elite or something? If it was, he probably didn't want it to clobber you while he healed.
If it wasn't, like someone else said, he was probably gonna judge command. Although there is the possibility that he just didn't know what he was doing, or a misclick or something.

I think he just didn't want the mob to run over and crit chicken his healer or (squishy) DPS. Seconds can mean the difference between life and death for your group while you're tanking (especially at 70).

What I once did when my brother was a priest and him and I were trying to kill an elite quite some above us with me dropping too fast in health was retain max distance between my brother and me while he healed me, I bubbled and my brother started running away from the chasing mob, I kept his HoTs ticking on me, tossed 2 quick flashes of light and dismissed the bubble. The mob ran all the way back, while my brother tossed another HoT on me, I was full health again... Beautiful way to gain some precious seconds, but do it correctly or your priest is toast.

This was on purpose without any stun, because (certainly against higher level (elites)) if he would have resisted, might have been end of story.
