ive been playing wow for a little over a month now, im enjoying it so far, but most of my gameplay has revolved around solo questing. i've tried to do bg's a few times at different levels. and based on this, and real world pvp, i can confidently say that i absolutely suck at it. i understand it takes time and practice to figure it out and become more effective, but im just wondering if you guys could give me some tips as to how to pvp as a hunter. just some ideas about what talents and abilities i should concentrate on, and maybe some tactics or sometihng.

The sticky covers the basics of configurations.

After that, you need to learn how to use your advantages and minimize your disadvantages. If you get in the first shot, odds of you winning go up dramatically, biggest tip I can offer there, start the fight on your terms, not theirs.

Learn 2 Play. PvE levelling play is NOTHING compared to PvP. Your foes are not computers that you can predict or trick with formulas. They are possibly smarter than you and may be better than you. Disengage your ego and learn as you play. If someone defeats you, remember how they did and figure out how to counter it the next time. It may take two dozen times but eventually, you'll get it figured out and then THEY will be the ones defeated.

Best thing: positive attitude and keep learning at the forefront of your brain. Losing the fight should not bother you. Learn from the loss and move on. A sporting player does not gloat when they win either. Every foe presents a chance to learn, be thankful for the chance and respect the foe.

In BG's stay with the group. Hopefully you will get lost in the battle of melee people and be ~30 yards behind shooting anything that moves.

Also, don't get too discouraged if you are in the 19 or 29 brackets as they are loaded with twinks and you really don't have a fighting chance against them. Twinks seem to get less and less the higher you go. I'll touch a BG while leveling here and there but not until the outlands do I start to really get into them.

What lvl you are? The lvl is very important on pvp tips.
You do different things and faced different situations.

But one tip is a must:L2P= read the stickys ,read some pvp threads and most important watch the others hunters(alliance and hordes)to get the picture what you should do!
