Mage vs. Death KnightFollow

I was wondering what everyone thought about the Death Knight from a mages perspective. Will the Death Knight be the mages ultimate bane, will it surpass the warlock in terms of how bad it kills us, or do you think it will just be a pimped out version of a warrior to ***** around with while murdering its minions.

With what I'm seeing in talents and new spells at the moment I wouldn't be suprised if every class became the anti-mage. All the newest stuff out seems badass for all the other classes, demon form, duel 2h weps, druids will probably get a new shapshift the restors full HP, full MP, breaks all CC, all poisions, all spells, ect and all while the DK looks like a walking killing machine from hell..... and we get 2 sec off the invis timer.

There really is no answer to these questions. If you want to speculate, Lhivera tried to get Blizz to answer whether or not the mage class was "Working as intended." It went to max posts on 2 or 3 threads without a single response from Blizzard. Whether the mage class will continue to be underrepresented in arenas and be significantly worse compared to other classes is up in the air. If you think Blizzard thinks we are the way we should be right now, expect a similar boat when WotLK comes out.

Every single class believes they are nerfed or some other class is overpowered. I went to every single class forum and each one had complaints about these things. I feel sorry for Blizzard, I am sure many of them probably wonder what they are going to have to do to make everyone feel as if they have a advantage in the playing field. Give each class a power called insta-pwn auto death imagine the boredom.

Having played multiple classes, I find this not to be true. For example, locks have problems with warriors and rogues, hunters don't seem to have a problem with specific classes, rogues avoid warriors and resto shamans/druids. I actually think the mage class is a bit gimped as locks are such a strong counter to them. Mages are great for PvE and I wish I had their CC abilities on my lock, as I have been put on standby for some instances when the group would rather have a mages very nice CC (the ability to keep something out of combat for an indefinate amount of time is hot... esp. when you don't care if it's a full health or not). I think mages are just not so balanced around 1v1, or at least aren't as easy to be good on 1v1 as other classes can be.

Yes that is true the only classes a mage has a definite chance in defeating in 1v1 is the warrior and the shaman. And yeah we do have the biggest disadvantage to a class out of all classes most likely.

I do think its sad that a mage has to be uber skilled to take out alot of classes when say a lock can kill u by just punching their keyboard......But the thing about a mage is that i feel a sense of pride when i own classes that should tear me apart....I dont really no where im going with this but mages are fun and have the tools to take down other classes......Personally I dont go into fights thinking wow this guy is going to dominate me because he is my anti-class, I just light them up and hope I react to their moves enough to win.

I believe it's like this in every game though. The squishy mage type class is always easy to kill in most pvp situations. I've seen games where they are much, much worse however.

On the thread topic, I don't know. I don't think we know enough about the death knight yet to determine anything really.

LOL. Mages are countered by warlocks, but not all classes are. In fact, rogues find warlocks easier to kill than mages (no blink). Stunlock to death (if your trinket is down), if not, trinket, deathcoil = cloak of n00bs, dead again. I find it very funny that mages kill warriors fairly easily (unless they are highly skilled warriors), but warlocks get chopped in half by them.

I really agree with this, most mages stand no chance against against anything without trying hard..this kinda pisses me off since I always suck 1vs1 against anyone I tried key bindings macros/new UI, even though mages are the only class i play best. It just sucks imagining ebayers that buy a mage knowing nothing about them..

i guess i only have a problem with rogues. As a frost mage with imp CS a warlock is really not that hard to kill. Start out with CS right of the bat. Freeze them with ele or just frost nova. Then cone of cold, ice lance, blink away and start charging frostbolt. If u get feared let him get all his dots on u then ice block. By that time ur CS is up again. Ice lance as much as possible cause it also slows there cast speed when it comes to fear. Then again a druid can be a problem for mages at times too.

as a mage i still have never really had an easy time with warriors... i am usually specced fire so i see the issue there, but when im frost even they still give me trouble. Maybe it's just because i'm not very used to frost but still, the charge/ intercepts always get me and no matter how hard i try and kite I cant seem to get them off me for very long.

Even know your fire, don't forget your frostbolt. Use rank 1 to kite them.

Never blink when they charge. It's a 1 sec stun and they'll just follow that up with a intercept. Get your distance right after the charge with a nova+trink n run. Then blink after intercept.

Use ice armor instead of molten armor against wars as well.

Remember, against a war distance>damage. If they are nova'd but still pretty close to you then use that time to put some ground between you and them rather then cast a spell.
