Over Hit Rating and Gear listsFollow

Heya, I have some questions regarding hit rating and emerald's gear lists. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ner%27zhul&n=Baddazz is my toon, named baddazz on nerzhul in armory. Anyways I have enough gear to get to 200 hit rating but have read I believe that I dont need any more than 150 or so, for doing Kara as DPS mostly. http://www.emmerald.net/Cat_DPS/Index.html is the page for the gear lists. Since I have too much hit rating would trinkets like the crystal forged trinket, actually have more value to me than say Romulo's poison Vial? Which has a massive amount of hit rating on it that would be of no use to me.

Yeah, probably, but if you have gemmed for +hit it might be better to change your gems to agi and hold onto the trinket.

In any case, bank it (the vial) if you replace it with something more DPS-oriented, you never know when you can upgrade your gear but lose a bit of hit rating :)

Congrats, you're due to increase your DPS with some regearing or regemming, because you're WAY past "capped" on your +hit.
Since we count as single wield even though we use both paws, we're capped at +142, per http://www.wowwiki.com/Hit

The specific example you talked about, Crystalforged Trinket would be a lot more beneficial to your DPS than Romulo's Poison Vial. The +7 weapon damage equates to +98 attack power on every white hit, plus mangle, shred, and ravage. And there's the ability to turbocharge your DPS on command. Since you're wasting all the +hit on RPV, all you get out of it is the equivalent of a couple weak white attacks a minute.

If you look at that page on Emmerald's list you can see that Agi is worth more than 50% more than +hit point for point. So basically, even if you are below the hit cap, you will see a bigger DPS increase by gemming for Agi than you would by gemming for +hit.

The only time you should gem for +hit is if you need a yellow slot for a REALLY good socket bonus, or you need two yellows to activate your [wowitem=32409]Relentless Earthstorm Diamond[/wowitem]. In that case you should use [wowitem=32220]Glinting Pyrestone[/wowitem] or [wowitem=24061]Glinting Noble Topaz[/wowitem].

Most my dps gear is + agi gems, I have no plus hit gems, I just have dps gear with a total of 190 hit rating so I wanted to know if using some of my gear without plus hit was a better option, now I know.

For a second question, is plus hit useful for bear form or should I not really worry about it? Like there is a denesive head enchant, or the attack power + hit one.

Bears benefit a little bit from +hit, as a missed mangle generates no threat and a resisted growl (which I understand +hit helps with) attracts no mob. So hit's not worthless, but very secondary to any defensive stat that'll increase your time-to-live. I'd get Glyph of the Defender on your head.

Since hit rating only reduces your chance to miss whereas expertise reduce you chance to be parried or blocked (being parried especially by a boss is BAD and can get you killed) expertise is much more useful for bears and tanks in general.
