Better specs for PvP, and PvE, which are you more interested in.

See mage guide for some examples.

All you're getting out of the Arcane tree is PoM...

If that's what you want, I'd suggest you take it a step further...

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=of0EbofzxhziZxgMzcZ0h

Hmmm, for some reason the URL button won't work...oh well.

But that spec will have your PoM Pyroblast hit like a truck. You might want to make a macro for it so that you PoM, Spell Power, Trinket and Pyro all at once. The Ultimate "I WIN" button. It can also be used optimally in raids where you open with a Pryo, Scorch to get the Improved Scorch going, then light them up with the Fireballs, it's an effective build.

I'd also do some research into the famed 10/48/3 build, although for some reason I prefer this one a lot more.

U have missed 2,5 vital spells for being the best in raiding when ur fire. (I'm assuming u want to raid with it in the end)

1) Elemental Precision 3% hit is like 30 hit rating; gives you more 'room' to spend to pure dmg.
2) Molten Fury, being able to spit 20% more dmg on the last 20% of a raid boss is a real dps-booster.
3) Burning Soul, putting one more point in it gives u 5% less threat. Sometimes ppl just don't see the beauty of this. Because 5% less threat is just 5% more pure plain and simple dmg.

U've tried to combine arcane and fire but u haven't gone that far into arcane to get the real goodies (Spell Power and Arcane Power) and u still haven't got enough points left to make ur fire spells complete.

I suggest you follow the baron's advice and check the builds out that are stated in the sticky. These are more balanced then the one you posted.

Gl with it :)

Everyone tells me that Frost is better for PvP, and fire is better for PvE... I don't know though, I just tried respeccing Fire for the first time ever and I have been hating in both so far. I have been Frost since as long as I can remember, and I think i'm going to be respeccing back real soon.

i like that spec for pve and solo. i ran that for 65 or so levels. its GREAT for PvE and grouping. i have not taken it to PvP as that is why i went to the cookie cutter 17/0/44

you can not play fire like you play frost.

when i ran fire i could drop most mobs in 2 or 3 shots. only time i had to step up to a 4th shot was a resist. as frost it is 3 or 4 shots and sometimes 5 or 6 to drop a mob my level range (im 70 now) heck it can still take 3 or 4 shots to drop a L50 mob as frost. when i was 65 (last time i was fire) i could drop a L50s mob in 2 shots MAX.

pyro FTW.

best combo is when you have imp. range and then hit with pyro, fireball, and then you MIGHT have to use fireblast to finish off the mob, but typically they will burn down do to incinerate(sp?) and your set.

your DPS will be higher with fire+arc or arc+fire (depending on how deep you want to go into fire. dragon's breadth is fantastic in an instance, no clue in pvp, prob. great there too.) but arc = mega DPS bonus + mega mana bonus + better mana shield. sadly mana shield eats up the mojo so fast it is not really worth doing unless it is a last ditch effort to RUN AWAY (best monty python quest for the holy grail voice).

PoM Pyro USED to be the ultimate I win button... Especially pre-bc. Was sick when i would come flying through the air and 1 shot someone... sadly Blizz gave our enemies resilience and 10k hp and it ruined the game imo. I used to be PoM Pyro and even in the beginning of the first arena season it was still sweet because I crit everyone with my pyro, and if they didn't die from that+ a fire blast, then the following ignite ticks would surely do away with them and I could focus on the other targets. Now that people have 400+ resil, the chance to crit is so small its not even worth speccing that way, why arrange your entire talent tree to bust out that one HUGE pyro when it ends up hitting for a non-crit 2,300dmg... and you coulda just fireballed it once, or shot 2 scorches and done the same thing. Huge let down every time pom/pyro doesn't crit, it's why I gave up on the spec...

Quiet you. Resilience did not ruin the game. It made PvP more complex and for most folks, more entertaining.

But it did change the way mages had to pvp.

Yes, what I meant, just in a more emotionally distraught way. Resil is awesome to have when melee is beating on you. Was just complaining but it really did change the way mages had to pvp, not so ez-mode anymore :(

Resilience changed playstyle for the mage. It also did so for the shaman and destruction warlock. The rogue somewhat too.

But we can adapt and pull through. Burst classes had to become more "endurance" classes in PvP because of Resilience and more Stamina.

It's not bad... just different.
