Is there much leather gear that has Stam and Strength on it pre-outlands. I know that there is a lot of hunter leather gear with Agi/Stam, but it seems few and far between to have Sta/Str on it. Correct me if I am wrong, but Shaman use Str > Agi. Agi is more for crits correct where Str is pure damage? Just wondering what gear lowbie Shaman should look for. I know it is not really all that important, since I am running with a lock and a hunter and I focus on keeping us alive THEN damage, but I would still like to contribute a little :)

Am I stuck just having a piece of gear here and there? I am not sure if Druids use Str or not, but I know up until now I am finding very few pieces of leather gear with the stats I need. Any suggestions or just tough it out until I get mail? Even then...is there mail with Str/Stam?

Oh, BTW...Alliance Side :)

It's out there. Look for "of the bear" pieces on AH. Agi is more common since it's the key stat for 3/4 of the classes that at some point in their lives use leather (rogues, hunters, feral druids).

If you focus on "keeping us alive" I'm guessing you're throwing out heals? Then you probably want some +int for our craptastic mana pool (truly craptastic at lower lvls). Look for "of the gorilla" pieces on AH (+str and +int) and if you regularly group it may even be worth using a bit of cloth since you shouldnt be taking many hits in that group in PvE.

Edit: For mail gear w str post-40, if you're Alliance you miss a couple of key Horde quest rewards made for Shammies. You may want to farm SM, which has a fair amount of mail blues for warrior or pally twinks that will still be nice on a 40-something shaman. By the time you outgrow them you're almost in OL...where the mail is all hunter or caster gear.

You should be able to find a lot of "druid gear" that's leather with Str and Sta--it's true, though, that options become a bit more limited when you hit 40 and switch to mail.

As tuskerdu said, it might be a good idea to go for 40-ish mail, the kind of stuff a pally would use before switching over to plate--lowbie warrior stuff is good too, though less likely to have the Int you need. And do not forget the power of random greens! Of the Gorilla (Int + Str), of the Bear (Str + Sta), and of the Eagle (Int + Sta) will probably be best--sometimes, if you are very very lucky, you can find mail gear "of Healing". Might be worth picking that up for instances if you plan on healing.

Another thought: if you're focusing first on healing (ranged) and second melee, you might do a bit better going with Elemental--a lot of spelldamage gear also has +healing on it, and it would mean you could start tossing out damage without having to run in from where you were healing. Depends on your style, though, I guess.

I may consider elemental, but I am a little tired of ranged DPS. I have a 70 mage and raid 3 nights a week, and ranged DPS is getting a bit old. So I may stay enchancement just because I don't focus on healing that much right now, mostly in the oh **** situations. I do plan to heal in instances and eventually spc resto, but for now I may stick with enh since I do some solo'ing.

I love the shammy, but the totem quest for water is a lot of running...thank god for ghost wolf lol.

Enhancement becomes mind-blowing in the 40s w Stormstrike and dual wield. Stick with it. And the water totem quest is the last one that's a PITA.
