spirit bond?is it worth it?Follow

#1 Jun 02 2008 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
I see more and more BM hunters that have rating more than 2000 in arena to spent 2 talent points in spirit bond.

I allways believed that 2% regenerate of total health every 10 sec is useless.
I have 11k health so 2% is 220 health every 10 sec.
Does anyone use this talent?Any opinions on that?

When you go past 2k rating, you start getting longer and longer fights. High healthpools like any high rated PvPer also improves Spirit Bond's uses. Let's take 14k health as an arbitrary value for his health pool. That's 280 health every 10 seconds. Through a minute of fighting, this translates to 1480 health per minute. Now add in the armor and resilience of a PvP geared Hunter and you can see that this will make a valuable contribution to a long fight.

Now, for anyone in the lower ranks (1800 and lower) or for anyone that mostly PvE's, Spirit Bond isn't worth it at all. In shorter fights, those two points will be better spent in either Health Pool talents or Damage talents. In PvE, a bandage will be enough to make SB useless. For a raider, Spirit Bond is laughably poor as talents go, because you really want to focus purely on damage.

So for higher end PvP (arena, that is) you want to consider Spirit Bond. For anything else, skip it entirely.

I wouldnt consider it for high end arena either.
Simply because either ressing your pet, or imp. mend is much more important and most likely nearly all of the healing received from SB is overhealing.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't specc Spirit Bond at all, no matter my rating/health pool. But for some people it is a decent talent, if their playstyle and skill is suited for it.

But that is also the only place Spirit Bond has a place in any Hunter build.

I'd be surprised if many high rating hunters actually pvp with a BM spec. I suppose in 2v2 it might be viable but I always thought in the end MM won out. At any rate, I haven't pvp'd enough on my hunter to get to that point.

I think BM is a great build for PvP, when you're alive to use it. It just seems to me that being big red and immune to CC makes you the biggest target on the field. I admit I never got my rating above 1800 but still, living for maybe 30 seconds in a 5v5 or 3v3 just doesn't seem worthwhile to the team.

I'll admit that BM is better suited for PvE, but a well played and well protected BM Hunter can decimate clothies and even some leather wearers depending on resilience, but they don't live as long as MM or SV Hunter simply because of the abilities these builds get.

Activating TBW draws a big target on your face, MM and SV hunters won't get that problem, but that doesn't mean they are any less deadly.

Spirit bond is the biggest waste of a talent point or two. Its useless in every way possible even leveling up. Bandaging should be used if needed, hunters can grind all day you should not get hit only your pet. spec imp mend pet and heal him forever good game. Animal Handler is a way better way to spend your talents.

I would have to pretty much agree, however it was not always that case. Back in the good old day its PVE applicability was actually fairly helpful. This was before they introduced your pet being dismissed whilst you mounted....

God I miss the days of riding along with my pet running at my side... : (

Anyways, so previously this skill was ticking all the time, even while riding from mob to mob, place to place. It really helped reduce the amount of down time one had to top up your health. Now however, practically nerfed.

I've...never felt the lack of it, to be honest. Then again...I don't PvP unless I want a particular bit of gear, so that's not much use I suppose. :P
