Shadowfiend

How does this work?
Ok... more to say,

1)Will it pull agro right away or does it just provide more dps?
2)Does the mana it gives back make up for the mana spent to make it(6%)?
3)Does it's damage get +damage from me?
4)Is it a viable shadow spell?

I just got lvl 66 and haven't used it yet, don't have the time to log on right now but I though I would get your guy's input.

Thanks

1) No. It is a very low-aggro spell, so if you use it immediately during a fight where you don't have time to gain aggro, then the mob will attack your fiend. However, it is extremely east to pull off of the fiend. Basically, don't worry about aggro with this one. It's pretty much there to give you mana and about 1k extra damage.

2) Yes, by far. The mana cost is relatively cheap for me, and every hit alone gives back more than it costs. For me, it costs ~200 mana, and each hit gives back ~300 mana. It's basically a free mana bar.

3) Again, yes. It deals shadow damage, and its damage increases with yours, much like a warlock's pet. More spell damage on you -> More damage by your fiend -> more mana for you.

4) It's a viable anything spell. Just pop one when you're low on mana, and you'll have mana coming out of your ears in a matter of seconds.

I basically use it as on "OH CRAP" button when I overpull or am low on mana mid-fight.

(1) The shadowfiend is not a tanking "pet." It isn't designed to pull aggro, and unless you or your teammates are generating almost no DPS, the shadowfiend will not pick up aggro.

(2) Absolutely. The fiend hits for around 100 damage, around 10 times. It returns 2.5x the damage it does to mobs in mana. It is also capable of crits, and gains AP from your shadow damage modifiers and debuffs. This means that a cast of shadowfiend can easily generate over 1500 damage for a return of 4500 mana to a priest with +1000ish damage.

(3) Yes. As stated above.

(4) Absolutely. Think of it as our version of Evocation.

Imagine me, a holy priest, in a raid. When I cast shadowfiend, I do damage, I regen a crap-load of mana and I heal at the same time. How imba is that?

No, Shadowfiend doescrap damage so hardly think its putting you on the damage meters, unless you aim to beat the holy Pala on damage done.

Yes, Shadowfiend is imba. Make it surive taking any AoE damage better and we will all be happy.

During a long fight the shadow fiend is one more way to gain back mana. You may use it as well as multiple mana potions during a boss encounter.

Since you aren't tanking, you may pull out the shadow fiend and he sits there and does nothing. Be sure before pulling him out, to target the boss and then use your petbar to immediately send him in.

My favorite of all time: Shadowfiend on Curator (Karazhan) during evocation phase. SERIOUS mana regen. =D

Even as a holy priest I gain full mana in just a few seconds.

When you do that, just make sure you don't also SW:D him.

A well timed Shadow Word: Death crit on the Curator's Evocation phase is a great way to commit suicide.
