Anyone have some tips to solo as a shaman for a 1st time shaman? Thanks.

The best tip I have for you is to have fun.
Play a shaman, use as many weapons as you can and see what you like best. Try out many professions on many characters and see what you like and don't like. Read the forums and see what people have to say.
Do what you want to do so that you have fun. The flip side of this coin is that if what you want to do is suck, you have to deal with the consequences of people hating you for it.
Whatever you do, don't ever do something that isn't fun just cause someone on a forum says: I am the almighty knower of knowers do as I say.
In the end, its your money, its your time, its your responsibility to find a playstyle that works for you.

Agree. Mana is an issue for us so use totems sparingly while soloing. They are basically your oh-sh*t button, mainly needed for 3+ mobs and/or elites. Otherwise you will spend half your time drinking.
Other than that, experiment and see what works for you. For enhance, after getting wf at 30 and stormstrike at 40, soloing becomes insanely fast. Before that you may wonder what the fuss was about.
