Is fury/DW warrior good in PvP?Follow

#1 May 29 2008 at 9:47 PM Rating: Default
okay, so atm i'm makin a warrior with my friend's frost mage.
Being who i am, i hate being the typical person who always does what just about everyone else does; which in this case would be an arms warrior w/2h.

So my question is: Is it possible for a Fury/DW warrior to be good in pvp??

define good. do you mean top-rated arena team good? or do you mean f*ck around in bg's and world pvp good? cause the former would be a mockingly laughable no, while the latter would be a definete yes.

There is a difference between that, and learning from other people's experiences. The reason people pick Arms is because people have tried the DW Fury, and it doesn't work as well. However, if you want to try it for yourself - go ahead. There is nothing that stops you from re-speccing later. That way, you will be doing what your "experience tells you" vs. doing "what everyone else does".

Semantics, but sometimes it is better to learn through experience.

Yes, if they have skill. No, if they don't.

Yes, if they have experience and know what they're doing. No, if they don't.

no, not really. No improved intercept, no Second wind.

My suggestion is if your Arena partner doesn't mind then try it. Already by leveling a character up to 70 you should have a feel for what he can/can't do (assuming he wasn't levelled by a Chinese farmer). You've probably changed specs and weapons a few times already.

Try him as Fury and see how you do. If you have the skills and enough experience you should be OK, but not spectacular. If you have neither then you'll suck as Arms too.

If you want to gain a 1900 rating then follow the Arms/slow 2 H route. If you want to be different and have fun try Fury/DW. Hell, if you're having fun doing it you could even go Prot dual wielding daggers and wearing +spirit gear.

Gain the experience, experiment with different set-ups and find which one suits you best, but above all HAVE FUN!

In BG's, I can really tear it up as DW, I use both the badge fist weapons, and some other nice assorted gear (collection of S1, kz, gruuls and the MH trash neck). As long as i have a few people with me, preferrably a healer and some other dps, I do fine.

In Arena, I prefer my big old 2hander for burst damage and all the good arms talents like imp intercept, second wind, and MS. However, if I'm in an arena against two spellcasters, I'll sometimes switch to DW for the extra spell pushback.

Pretty simple fury is good in pvp for fighting 2 classes, shadow priests and warlocks, in a 1v1 situation. fury isn't bad if you have a back up ms debuff be it from a hunter or from another warrior or rogue. The main reason however that fury is not good for pvp is quite simple, the gear just doesn't support enough steady hit rating while supplying you with enough crit to bypass resilience, maybe if you hybred speced fury with a bit more arms because rampage can be a pain to try and keep up, fury is really bad agaisnt frost mage with frost armor on for obvious reasons you procing the immobalize effect from it almost all the time its bad agaisnt rogues because they can stunlock you and you can get owned. lol, basicly warriors cant get away with dual wielding in pvp as well as rogues can for the simple reason that almost every class has a way of escaping a warrior so for the time you are in their face you need to be able to BURST as much dmg on them in as few seconds as possible ie : 2h white hit ms hit bam your frost novaed or death coiled or scater shot or trapped or rooted or cycloned, that mixed with the fact that you have no Mortal strike debuff on your own sort of breaks the class. flame away guys but there isnt much more to say about this.

Ie rogue stunlocks you when ur fury u come out and hit him 2-3 times if he isnt fast on stuns if hes good u hit him 1-2 times for not high dmg whereas as MS 2h stun lock you get out and BAM BAM 2k - 2k stun again, It's simple class mechanics really, arms = pvp fury = pve dps prot = pve tanking Yes I agree going agaisnt the norm is fun of course but if you expect to go anywhere other then down with your pvp career I would suggest Mortal strike in your build (also if you expect to get invited to ANY arena teams that are aiming for over 1550 rating
