It's interesting how you are trying to correct a hunter that is raiding SWP.

I'll repeat What Mul said:
1: Dont use serpent sting because in the same time, you could have cast a steady shot.
The steady shot costs less mana and does more damage.

2: dont use concussive shot because a: it costs way to much mana to be profitable (same as above, you could also cast a steadyshot for way less mana and much more dmg) and b: any mob/boss where dps actually matters cant be dazed.

If you can counter those statements we'll keep talking.

Hi! I'm a complete jackass. You're still an idiot, though; more to the point, you're giving bad advice. Being an idiot by yourself is one thing, but leading other people down the path of stupidity is just bad.



Serpent Sting costs 275 mana (base, but it gets the same reduction Steady does) and does 660 damage and 10% of your AP. Steady Shot does 150 damage and 20% of your AP for 110 mana; much more importantly, though, it can crit. Even with a fairly paltry 1800 AP (including Hawk) and 25% crit rate, Steady Shot will do more damage for about 1/3rd of the mana cost. GCDs are extremely important to doing real damage on your hunter; wasting one in order to spend more mana and get less damage is not exactly your ideal gameplan.



Again, you have the GCD issue. Concussive Shot doesn't cost a lot of mana, but it eats a GCD that you could otherwise use for a Steady Shot... and the 175 bonus damage to the next Steady Shot isn't worth the extra damage you'd get out of just using Steady Shot again. Plus pretty much everything important (bosses and a few heroic monsters, and everything in raids) is going to be immune...

There are so many wrong things you state here it starts to hurt.
1) Gearing for MP5 is not a good idea. You can sustain a shot roation without gearing for a single point of MP5
2) Switching to Viper Aspect costs you at least 50DPS (if you don't have Improved Aspect of the Hawk specced and a lot more if you have specced for it).
3) Wasting a global cooldown to get another 175 damage on a steady shot if the mom is not imune to daze effects is a really bad idea. Just fire a steady shot, that will be at least 500dmg even in crappy gear (and a lot more in good gear).
I recommend you start reading a few FAQs. The two stickies in this forum are a good starting point. For further information there are some links referenced in the FAQ in this forum (don't look to close who has posted it, you might recognize the name, however there was noone until know who said I'd claim a lot of nonsense *giggles*).


It is funny you know, I raid for more than 2.5 years and I have not seen a single hunter using concusive shot to improve his damage. There where some hunter who used serpent sting in their shot rotation. Two saw the error when I pointed it out to them; the third one had to leave a casual raid group since he did not manage to beat the main tank damage wise :)
But there is more to it. A lot of things about shot rotations and how to do damage are discussed on several forums (like tkasomething and EJ, you should pay a visit if you are really interested in how to DPS). I frequent those forums and I believe I know a lot about this stuff.

But you got me interested. What was you experience regarding raids and instances? Would you mind posting a WWS Log where you do you shot cycle against Dr. Bumm?
