alpha talents got leaked, and looking at the most relatable class to us (the warrior, eat it i dont care what you think on that matter) im starting to brainstorm some new talents for the expansion

so what i got so far, albeit its just guesses at this point

assassination:

0/3 talent, tier 8
you gain an extra 1/3/5 energy per tick

0/5 talent, tier 7
20% (per point) chance when you use a finishing move, you gain a buff. buff gives your critical hits from abilitys an extra 100% critical strike bonus and 20% reduced threat generation

0/1 talent, tier 9
finishing move, costs 20 energy
immobilizes target for 1.5 seconds per combo point, and makes your poisons undispelable for the duration (subject to dim. returns, no shared catergory)

combat:

0/5 talent, tier 8
you gain an extra critical strike rating equal to x% (per rank) of your agility

0/2 talent, tier 7
your sinister strike and backstab abilitys have a 4/8% chance to grant you a buff, ignoring 11 armor/level for 8 seconds

0/1 talent, tier 9
allows you to equip two-handed swords and maces. movement speed reduced by 20% while holding a two-hand weapon; cannot enter stealth while holding a two-hand weapon; all stuns effects caused by you while holding a two-hand weapon also cause a 10 second daze effect; all damage caused by you reduced by 10%

(more of a pipe dream, but i gots the gut feeling)
(if that doesnt seem realistic to you... maybe something like...)

0/1 talent, tier 9
finishing move, 15 energy, 30 second cooldown, requires slice and dice to be active
increases your attack speed by 45% and increases your hit rating by 1/level for 12 seconds. this effect consumes the current slice and dice buff on the rogue
(hidden: puts slice and dice on a 12 second cooldown when used)

subtlety:

to come, break be over ^_^

edit #1: updated combat a smidge, will get to sub later today... damn work ><

a Rogue with a 2-hander, rofl!

Speculation is all good and well, but I would try to draw from similar games that blizzard used a rogue in. (hint: diablo 2 - assassin)

I think you should switch the 1st talent of your assassination tree and combat tree to be more in-line with the themes of those trees.

I just want to see rogues get chainmail. :P

Oh, and speaking of Diablo II: Shadow warrior/shadow master @.@

i was actually trying to in-line them with respectively good talent for the trees focus

and the 2h thing, well they gave warriors the option to 1h a 2h weapon but it swings slower

that follows frenzy barb lore but honestly, i would see that happening because you KNOW we're gonna start **** if warriors are gonna dual wield 2h'ers lol

dont even need MS at that point, just 1 good whirlwind sword proc and some very dead clothies and leathers appear

Lol, not to mention that the grammar and spelling of the abilities is atrocious.

Rogues in chainmail is a problem for me if stealth is involved. Some sort of decreased stealth ability or loss of ability while in chainmail would need instituted. If any of you have worn mail IRL (yes former ren/medevial nerd here) it is very difficult to move quietly in it. But I see no reason it couldnt be worn in a raid situation or any other non stealth important areas.

Maybe as a combat tree talent; like shamans get dual wield as a talent, rogues could have some things that really change how they are played. I think that would be spiffy. I was looking back at the Diablo II talent trees and the variety is awesome. Some classes are like that, for instance paladins. I think they could change up rogues a bit though in order to really make variety depending on tree.

Make it far down the tree. Allows the use of chainmail but half stealth level.

I've always found it weird that Rogues/asssassins are most effective against low armour targets, as the opposite is true IRL. I'd say soem kind of armour pen talent (that leaves a minimum of 2k or soemthign intact) would be cool for that reason, but it'd be too difficult to balance.

So I want an ability to one shot clothies instead.

Serrated Blades isn't enough passive armor penetration for you?

But Serrated Blades rapes casters, I want something to allow some kind of burst on high armour targets. Wouldn't really work in WoW unless other melee got soemthing simmilar and Shamans and Palladins stopped being balanced around their armour, so i don't actually expect it to happen. It's a pipedream.

Inverse scaling doesn't exist in WoW.

not yet, but thats why theres an expansion son

NEW TO WRATH OF THE LICH KING: PROPER MATH ANY WAY YOU WANT IT, COMBAT VALUES OR OTHERWISE!

in all honesty its not that hard to do inverted scaling

its like a temperary percent-based buff (coughHASTEcough) just ****** backwards

warriors has 10000 armor
we ignore 20% of it

he now has 8000 armor

not that ****** hard lol

Elune and the titans never learnt proper maths, physics and rational logic. Thats why WoW is weird [different] in its reality compared to us, where certain things like 20 sunfury bows can fit in a bag and inverse percentage calculations dont exist :3

All we can do is wait to see what blizz is throwing at us.
