I have always heard that 1200 unbuffed shadow damage is what is needed for a shadow priest to be any use raiding.

And while i have raided damn near every instance in the game. i still have yet to achieve this goal.

I was wondering if anyone had any cool tips on gear or whatever that would help me out.

Right now im working on a new trinket to replace the ******* one you see now. Working on the blessings deck.

also i have heard that the trial fire trousers are overall better than the spellstrike pants even with the buff the the 2 piece bonus gives.

also i intend to get a new weapon just as soon as i get either 150 badges or that damn amani punisher drops.

if you wanna take a look at my priest the name is koots and is in my sig.

I'm not meaning to be lazy by simply posting links, but these guys did a great job of rounding-up the best gear for shadow priests:

Casual gear (You can obtain all of this without touching 25-man content)

Raiders' gear

Good luck!

1200dmg: No. Just entering Kara, I'd aim for 900-1000. Mid-upper T5 level or just entering T6, then you're at 1200. Upper T6 level is 1300 with 150-200 spell haste. I had 1275-ish when I first stepped into Hyjal.

Get the trinket from Heroic MrT. Best trinket in the game except for the one off M'uru.

Spellstrike pants are better than Trial-Fire, especially since you're losing almost no +dmg but now have enough hit that you can get rid of that necklace in favor of the +dmg one or the haste one (if you've got more haste). That's without considering the set bonus either. Of course, Kaz legs + Hex Lord helm is even better, since you've obviously been in T6.

I'd get new bracers. Bear boss in ZA, the S3 wrists, or Winterchill are both significantly better. Or the crafted ones if you can grab some more haste pieces as well (shoulders, neck, offhand, cloak), but your +dmg is low enough that it might be better to focus on +dmg for now.

Hmm, since you appear to be attempting T6 content already you should get the trash mace asap, also the new pvp neck is perfectly acceptable due to its haste damage and socket. To be honest though its kind of odd that you're into T6 content without a single drop from T5 content.

ya. its a combination of my being new to the guild that was raiding the content and the fact that most of the best stuff for shadow priest is crafted.

seems VERY hard to replace the frozen shadow weave stuff. Had to pass on many a drop from ssc and the like but never got the opportunity to get any t5 set pieces.

I have left the raiding guild and stopped raiding though, began to feel like a job. and wanted to do stuff like kara on my other characters.

I did get the runed spellcuffs. Figure next i will aim for the spellhaste neck they are talking about. and of course one day i will get the ace for my dang blessings deck.

That's actually not too surprising, there's very little drops in t5 content that are clear upgrades for spriests over other casters. So even if something drops there's a pretty good chance you won't get it since it's "better" for mages/locks etc. I did about 5 months of t5 content and never got a drop when I finally stepped into hyal lol. Also with the recent end to attunements for t6 content, it's not too surprising to see more and more people doing bt/hyal in shadoweave and spellstrike.
