Proffesion question, what wold you recomend?Follow

#1 May 28 2008 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
I am coming back for the summer/woflk and my mining is like 120 and BS is about 98ish because i dropped Lw/skinning around the time i quit.

Anyhoo, i think i'll keep Mining at least, because of the raw mats/money potential, but was wondering what you guys would recomend for the other proff?
I want something Uber practical for a rogue, and until very recently LW wasnt it. I was thinking JC, since i have it on my lvl 26 undead warrior and it seems like a nice prof to lvl up, but was also wondering what you guys would recomend as an alternative, maybe enchanting for ring enchants?

Just looking for what you would currently recomend for a rogue as far as practicality goes. I know gather/gather for money, but i would like a crafting profesion.

Mining or herbalism and skinning.

Two gathering professions is the way to go.

For leveling, just take two gathering professions. Powerleveling a crafting profession is easy at 70, and that's tyhe only time you'll really need it.

At 70, the best combo would be LW and Enchanting for raiding (LW best of the two), probably Engineering and Enchanting for PvP. It doesn't matter that much, but those are what you'd use for max effectiveness.

I forgot to mention. I am coming back on my old 70 account. So this will be a prof for my 70 rogue. Yeh, i should be more specific. =)

If you plan on keeping mining, engi or JC would be good combos. Both have something to offer (goggles, trinkets).

I was skinning LW all the way to 70, then dropped skinning and took engi. Not the money maker that mining would be, but I make good money farming primals with my mote extractor on my epic choppa.

Raiding professions: engi/LW.

PvP professions: engi/JC.

Gold is too easy to make to waste time on mining.

Almost... You keep coming across nodes while you're just doing your dailies, instances and whatnot. That's free gold right there.

Plus I guess without the corresponding gathering profession you'll find yourself in a world of hurt once the expansion hits and you need to skill up your crafting professions without having any mats.

JC is nice as it allows you to just buy gems, cut, and resell. Maybe even buy ore and prospect. You can make money without ever leaving the city.

Engineering is great. At least right now you can make quite a bit of gold from zapping motes. Without knowing how that will work out in the expansion though, it's quite risky to depend on it as a source of income to finance leveling it up further.

I'd keep mining and decide between one of those 2. You can always dump it at 80 when you're rich and fat.

Honestly, it's not worth taking that minor amount of gold over drums/goggles in PvE, or goggles/trinket in PvP.

My tree druid is doing alchemy and leather, so I certainly know the benefits of having 2 crafting professions on the same toon.

But it also resulted in the rogue having to pick up herbalism along with engineering - which worked since I got a mining hunter who happens to be a jewelcrafter (who also supplied the warrior smith)

I am missing the skinner in all this now though, and not only am I tired of paying through the nose already NOW for any leather I need, I am very much concerned about how bad its gonna be once I get back to skilling up.

There is plenty of gold to be made right now with quests and whatnot, but having to spend 5K for the epic flyer was probably just the beginning. Not sure what its gonna be, but there will be yet another money sink in the expansion, and I dont think its gonna be less than 20k gold seeing how it jumped from vanilla to TBC.

Vanilla to TBC is not like TBC to WOTLK.

Yeah, it's pretty much been confirmed that TBC to WotLK will be like a huge content patch that just happens to give us 10 more levels.

T6 is still going to be viable compared to the raiding set you get out of the new Naxx, versus T3 being slightly worse than T4.

So i went J/c. I'm currently powerlvling it. I really wanted a proffesion that would both help me, and would eventually pay for itself/make me money. currently mining/jc, will probably drop mining at 80 for another proffesion or something. Currently really happy. Expecially with the cool epic trinkets/easily assecible gems now available.

I would have picked engineering
you can make yourself some nice goggles that you wont have to replace for a while
they also have an upgrade allthough im not sure how much the mats would cost
but i think its called Quadblow X44 or sumthing like that
when lvling its nice to have also because you can get bombs and stuff for a lil extra dmg

Yeh, i may have it on an alt on eday, but for no, this suits me just fine. lvling isnt a problem though, i'm 70 in 4/5 T4 so pne craftable helm wouldn't be my biggest worry with badge gear so easily available. but yes the upgraded helm is just shy of t6/sunwell stuff. i want a gathering alt, but one that would be fun to lvl play. I'm thinking elemental shaman skinning/herbalism? idk... Halp again. /topic change.
