MM is ussually the spec to go for hunters in raids, but ive seen BM hunters hold their own as well, just do it differently.

Are the stats they need to perform well, different as well?

How would i be able to judge that a hunter is ready to enter kara? or the first two 25 mans we face?

All specs of Hunter can bring something valuable to raids IMO. Personally speaking i would say that BM and SV hunters are the better represented specs in raiding at the moment, with MM more for PVP.
The pre raid sticky at the top is a great place to look to see if someone is ready or not.

Apparently Tenjen's too lazy to do his own research. He's posted the same basic question in every single class forum.

Read the stickies and do some homework.

Yes and like ive said and am gonna say, ive read the stickies HOWEVER, in my long experience here, the members have always offered better more wider information than the stickies, ive consulted teh stickies, WOwwiki, numurous wow guides and sites.

Forgive me for checking out every last possible source of information. If i was lazy i would have copy and pasted the question and changed the class name.

You read the sticky, eh?

Aethien's Sticky wrote:
for every hunter, ~7k hp ~6.25k mp will be good
BM: 20% crit and 1650AP
MM: 20% crit and 2000AP
SV: 27.5% crit and 1650AP (~650 Agi unbuffed)
(AP with AotH)
~5% +hit for starting karazhan, hitcapped for the later bosses.
(surefooted of course counts for 3%)
Note: these stats are to aim for, they are relatively high and generally high enough for the whole of karazhan.
Dont be afraid to do whatever you can to get their though ;)
Also, its better to be over the top a bit on crit and a bit low on AP because raidbuffs give a lot more AP then crit.

You really read the sticky?

I'm not usually one of the read-the-sticky ***** around here, but in this case I'll make an exception.

If your question had been, "I've read Aethian's sticky about pre-raid options...is it the consensus? Or, are there different opinions?" that might be one thing. But looking at what I quoted from the sticky and from your original post, I have to reiterate my first post that you are looking for other people to do your homework for you. Which, essentially, I've just done by quoting the sticky. You're welcome.

#12REDACTED, Posted: May 28 2008 at 10:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually if you look at that, it only covers the karazhan portion of my question.

I see a ton of hunters who try to raid, Kara and early 25's as MM. My guild runs Gruuls, Mag, SSC, and TK with another guild. This other guild fields 3 hunters, all MM. My guild puts up me (BM) and our SV hunter. At the end of every raid the top 5 DPS slots belong to
Me
One of our frost mages
Their top rogue
Our SV hunter
Our ENH Shammy

The hunters that they have are usually between 8th and 15th. The really funny thing is that 2 of their hunters are better geared than I am. However, they insist on running with an bass-ackwards spec.

In our Kara runs, I always finish top damage done. In PUG ZA, or whatever, I always finish at, or near the top. I am not bragging or waving my E-Peen.

It is a cookie cutter build for a reason.
Macros are listed for a reason.
It is a sticky for a reason.

It freaking works!

BM is the optimum DPS spec for a hunter. SV is EFFIN awesome to have along, but only one. If you want to contribute to your raid, remember, you are a hunter, ranged DPS. Not CC, Not a tank, Not heals. you are there to melt faces and hurt feelings. The cookie cutter BM build (with small variations) is the best way to do that.

*Edit* Why did you ask this same question in EVERY class forum? You wouldn't be trying to fugure out what kind of level 70 you want to buy would you?

Hey, you do remember that this is MY forum, and MY sticky right? (see sig for reference :P)

I'm not going to list any stats for 25 mans, people just need to not be morons, get kara gear with the right stats and use Cheeky's as linked and advised in the sticky.

Oh, and did I mention that the sticky has been made with help from both the community here as well as on TKA and that if anyone disagrees I invite them to post it so the sticky can be improved?
So far there arent many people that disagree with my statements, and that includes some really good theorycrafters.

I do, He'll be a Belf and his name will be Cuddles.

Yeah, that clown would always show up to point that out. Haven't heard from whoever that is in a while. The subject could be about how to change pet names and he would jump in "Dont forget if you have a Draenie in your group, that's 1% hit you dont need to gear for...durr, I have a wooden spoon".

Ok here is the deal for me as a Level 70 Hunter on moonglade with basic lvl 70 gear. I have been a 100% BM Hunter since i hit Level 70 and with "Rema" my rare and very large Wolf have had great fun at PVE, i hate PVP. But and this is the killer, to get invited into Guilds for raids etc i have often been asked to re-spec and have probably wasted 100gold re-specing to fit into supposed "experts". I have now given up on guilds and have found a high DPS spec that is 60% BM and 40% MM, yet i can still not get into normal instances to "gear up" for raids. I have got myself a new pet (Rip-blade Ravager, to get the extra 10% DPS), So for all you experts out there, what do you think a Hunter should do to get instance gears (non-herioc), or am i better off cos people seem to prefer other DPS classes to go PVP to get my gear?

Check out spec on here or the Armoury if you wanna see what i got, I am Nitelord, the Night Elf, MoonGlade Server

Cheers to all

Oh and I remember referring to the Draenei hit aura at some point, (albeit not in a pet thread, as those are boring and stupid) so if by some chance you're referring to me, GFY uzemaki.

Ergh, nice attempt. Still, I actually meant "why can't some dimwit come here and ask something really retarded". Your suicidal tendencies are amusing, don't get me wrong, but they aren't really the stuff of epic rages.

Where are you reading people do this? If you spend any time here or at tkasomething.com, people who make that claim (MM is best for raiding) are quickly corrected.
