Pvp gear for holyFollow

Hey guys, I have a lvl 68 holy pally that I am going to do arena with once I hit 70. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say directly, but have gotten the feeling from some people that pvp gear for holy is not all that great. Any opinions from experienced holy pallies would be great, and would direct my course of action of whether to keep getting honor points or not. Thanks.

EDIT: I just re-read your post, and I read it wrong the first time. PvP gear is for, well, PvP. I don't see why it wouldn't be what you want to go for if you plan on doing Arenas, but then, I have no Arena experience on anything but my Warlock (for like, 2 weeks ...). I'll leave further commenting to the PvPers.

I've heard holy pallies are similar to rogues in Arena in that they will mix in certain pieces of PVe gear to boost healing because they are already so durable.

However, the holy pallies who do this generally have T6 loot and they use their PVE weapons, rings, and trinkets for the most part.

A holy pally just starting out can't do much better than the PVP gear that is available for honor until they start getting arena points.

If you like BGs, then keep getting honor points and marks. When you have enough, you can buy the S3-matching non-set items: Vindicator's Ornamented boots, Vindicator's Ornamented waist, and possibly Vindicator's Ornamented bracers.

You can also easily obtain the Vindicator's Pendant of Salvation, Vindicator's Band of Salvation, and Veteran's Band of Salvation. These can all be purchased for honor points and the appropriate marks from the appropriate vendor in Champion's Hall or the Hall of Legends.

You might be able to find better +heal on some PVE items, but each of these pieces will give you a huge stamina boost, some decent crit rating, and your first bits of resilience. You can mix in the blue PVP rep gear from this last patch if any parts of your remaining dungeon blues/quest rewards are particularly lacking.

You should also want to make getting the PVP trinket a priority, but that advice is not unique to holy paladins by any means. For alliance, you want the Insignia of the Alliance and then the upgrade, Medallion of the Alliance, at your earliest convenience.

You'll still get owned, repeatedly. These'll get you started though until the arena points start trickling in.

[EDIT] Fixed ugly comma usage.

PvP gear is for PvP! It is when it gets used for PvE that it falls apart since it is designed for sharp short fights, not 10 min long 25 man encounters.

In terms of arenas be warned that at this juncture of the game if you are rocking less than 350+ resilience in a 2v2 or 3v3 you will get absolutely punished. Think of it as the equivalent of a lvl 30 trying to pick a fight with a lvl 43, either you have to be phenomenal or other guy has to suck really bad in order to win, or a bit of both. So look to BG's to farm honor to get entry level pvp gear to complete in Arenas.

Also Paladin healers in 2's and 3's brackets are less than optimal. To put it mildly.

The good news is that we excel at 5v5 and it is actually encouraged to wear 200 resilience and the rest PvE gear. Bad news is finding a reliable 5 is tough work.

unless your PvE gear is t6, the PvP gear is definitely the best for PvP.

Even if you have t6, the arena gear is best for PvP, while T6 fills out the non arena pieces nicely.

kinda like what bigdaddy said
