Surviving PvPFollow

I've only run beast master hunters, but recently rolled onto a PvP server and it got me thinking...

Is speccing partially into Survivalist to get better traps is a viable build?

Or should I just stick with BM and call it a day?

Any suggestions for a level 31 build or direction would be groovy.

The sticky. Read it.

No seriously, it's there for beginners, the curious, the inexperienced and finally (and more importantly for you) for smacktards that apparently completely fail to provide pertinent details like which kind of PvP (bg, world, arena) and what kind of experience you are sitting on to begin with.

How sodding hard is it to read the "Every question answered here!" post before asking something?

I think that may be a bit harsh :P, but anyways...

I think speccing a little into SV would be viable if you planned to do more running than fighting... >.>

Harsh is quite the understatement. And apparently reading the sticky is a lot sodding harder than banging out a smacktard response.

However, after reading the sticky, all questions were not answered so I was looking for some "real world" experience from some other people.

My apologies to the elite hunters out there that feel that questions such as this only deserve the ire of your elite epeen stroking. Seriously, relax a bit. If you don't feel like answering the question, then don't.

Let me take a few moments to review that suggested sticky again for more clarification.

Thanks for the help. No... Really. Thanks. Very helpful.

Have a nice day :)

While leveling, sticking to a single talent tree is advised. As with most classes and builds, the talents get better the further down the tree they are. Stick to BM.
Having the Survival talents for traps is useful in PvE, but pretty useless in PvP. The freeze trap time is capped when used on other players, and isn't improved by those talents.

harsh? its a quite gentle and delicate response by North's measurements.

yeah, dont take him too serious ;)

All that aside, i think we should get a PvP sticky here.... anyone willing to make it? :P

My hunter was my very first character, and she's on a PvP server. From my own experience, putting points into SV would just make leveling harder. Even on a high popular server, world PvP doesn't happen a lot.

As Hralien said, traps would only help if you plan on running more than fighting... But even then, you'll only come across a fair fight once for every high-level gank- that you have no chance of living through. And often times, you'll pass by horde that's just trying to power level, so they're just going to ignore PvP.

Stick with either a full BM build, or a full SV build with points into BM to beef up your pet.
