I am now a skinner and Leatherworker, both are 375. Im not sure which to drop, tho. I want to pick up jewelcrafting but is that shadowsong trinket really worth the switch? Have any rogues tried to powerlevel JC to 375 just for the trinket? Whats the average cost?

Thank in advance

~1500G. That is all by buying from the AH. Take the time to mine everything and it will be much cheaper.

hows he gonna mine if he only wants to drop one? i suggest that you forget the JC IMO, because youd only be doing it for one specific thing am i right? ive also heard that it isnt a very good money maker, if going for money it would most likely be enchanting, if its for more personal stuff then i suggest either engineering or herbalism, although engineering will probably cost more than getting JC up. engineering also has a good pair of goggles that you can make and eventually upgrade when you get the plans. im lw/skinner and it sucks lol theres almost no money in LW.

it all depends on your progress as a level 70 and your current server economy.

1 : Is there still money to be made selling the cobrahide LW patches on your server? (they sold for 450++ G in the past on mine, now theyre down to 220).
2 : Is there ANY market for crafted LW stuff ? (Too many LW on my server, almost no market for this).
3 : Are you in a guild that can raid or will raid SSC / TK ++ in the future ?
4 : Will you raid kara ?

1 : The patches, if you farm the mats and buy cheap mats from AH, will net you a healthy profit. This totally depends on your own server economy, investigate and profit :)

2&3 : There are some epic BoE items that are very good and somewhat rare like the belt recipe from SSC; belt of deep shadow. If you craft these you can make some money. Same goes for the cobrascale stuff for Kara starters (see 4). Generally LW is next to useless because most of the really good craftable stuff is now outdone by either ZA drops, S3 or the new island badge gear. So if you drop anything i'd say perhaps drop both and get mining and JC to keep the costs low.

4 : If you don't plan on raiding kara, the LW (3 piece) craftable set will be a good option for you. As well as the cobrascale gloves, hood and boots.

It also depends on what you wanna do:

For pure PVP i'd say get enchanting for the enchants on rings + your own mongoose (if you're lucky) and JC because of the +stealth + detection figurine.
For PVE i'd say get herbalism + alchemy for raid pot use. Also the herbing will give you extra income.

PsiChi is probably talking about what a lot of people do. Take up a gathering prof (like mining), getting all materials needed to powerlevel a crafting prof, then dropping that gathering prof and picking up the crafting. It's a bit time consuming, but a lot of people do it to save money buying bars and stuff.

I dropped Skinning and Im now powerleveling JCing. Im at 255 so far, i should hit 375 in a day or so. I wanted to level Jc for the trinket, but also all of the 20 AP gems i will be able to make myself. I will prob drop JC later on and pick something else up. Money is not an issue.

This is what I did. I was skinning/lw, dropped skinning, mined what I needed and sold what I didn't all the way up to mithril (around 225 mining), got bored with it and just dropped 2k in the AH and hit 365 engineering in one day. Am currently 375/375 in both LW and Engineering. Epic choppa rocks!

I dropped mining for JC, and couldn't be happier. The Shadowsong trinket is amazing.
