What's best for what?

For DPS? Raiding into T5 content, ele will do more dps, t5 on, enh will start to do more. I'm a noob in t6 content and still get beat by our ele though... WTB drops and less rogues and hunters...

Really just depends if you want to be a caster or melee, elemental is (don't shoot me) easier to play (not having to stay in contact with mobs as much) but you'll probably get called to off heal at some point, you get to cast two spells, enh, cast 4, plus totems for both...

I had a spriest as a caster, I wanted melee, my choice was a rogue or shammy, went with the shammy just because it was new and different (alliance), rogues out dps me though, but to your orignal question, thats the great thing about hybrids, try them both, you can always change without rerolling

Objectively speaking, I believe a raid benefits more from having an Enhancement Shaman along than an Elemental Shaman. Yes, Elemental Shaman can pump out some fantastic damage from the safety of range, but so can a lot of other people. Their biggest group buff, Totem of Wrath, will become less and less useful and eventually almost obsolete as the other casters in your raid secure enough +spell hit. (And they're not going to itemize around your totem.)

Enhancement Shaman put out high DPS as well, and buff your melee DPS better than Elementals are buffing the caster DPS. The biggest thing, though, is the way Enhancement can buff a tank. Even the best tank in the world is going to have his threat pushed by his DPS if they're good enough and geared enough. Receiving Strength of Earth and Windfury/Grace of Air is going to drive his threat through the roof and even increase his survival a tiny bit.

That's just my opinion, anyways. They're both good, and honestly, I would just recommend you play whichever one you like the best.

If you are scrub at melee then go the PewPew version.

Alot of raid fights require melee to be more aware of their location than ranged dps, not saying ranged dps is easy mode but...

Elemental Shamans tend to live thru fights more often and having them offheal isn't terrible either. I prefer Enhance for the improved damage and tank and dps cross buffs.

Having been Enh before I switched to Ele....

Ele is indeed easy mode. Mobs are far away giving u better reaction time/space. DPS output is regular and more easily regulated (no big spikes). etc.

Enh, u keep smelling the mobs' backside, and some of them are so big u cant see a thing.

Then WF spikes.. yucks, can cause unwanted aggro and if u're not careful, cause wipes.

Totem wise, both ele and enh are wanted.

Ele is good in caster groups, the fire and air totems gives hit, crit, and SP. Water if mana. Only problem is no useful earth totem to drop.

Enh,... lol, everybody wants every totem, kekek.

There is no real best spec IMO. If u like close in, pick enh, if u like ranged DPS, pick ele. That's about it.

I went ele coz my guild wants and ele shaman. Otherwise, I would prefer bashing people in the face =P (both are fine with me actually, but.. I like close in)
