instant wolfFollow

#1 May 26 2008 at 10:37 AM Rating: Decent
Hi. I play an ele shaman level 70, that still has green level 60 gear, but I'm slowly replacing with arena and bg gear. I've been looking at specs recommended and haven't seen the instant cast wolf form included. I really like being able to run away fast when i'm low on health and mana. Do you think it's worth including the "instant wolf form" in one's talents?
My current talents are mostly ele, with 7 in enhance (to have instant wolf form), and a few points in resto.
Thanks for any replies.
Paul.

Imp. GW is a must-have for Restos and Enhancments in the arena. Elementals would like to have it as well, but their builds simply can't afford to fit it in. At least it's not worth what they have to give up in order to get it.

40/0/21 or 37/0/24 are the two top-end Elemental PvP builds at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. I guess Nature's Swiftness would save my butt or get in that last blast would be good. And dying is not so bad, since I return with full mana. Time to respec yet again I spose.

Another question: should I bother with rep vendors to upgrade my gear? Or be patient (sp?) and keep doing daily bg's, as well as 10 arena games a week, for that better gear.
Thanks. Paul.

By rep vendors do you mean buying the epic BG gear from factions? I would say do that, that gear is better than 60 greens.

The blue PvP set sold at the rep vedors is actually very respectable PvP gear. The S1 gear is an upgrade over it, obviously, but no more in the way that S2 is an upgrade over S1, etc.

The quickest and most effective way to gear yourself up for PvP now is to buy the helm, gloves, shoulders, chest, and legs from the rep vendors. Then grind out honor and marks in BG's so you can buy all the Vindicator/Veteran gear to fill in all of the other slots and your S1 weapons. Once you've got a full regiment of PvP gear, you can then start doing the arenas and make a good push for points to buy your Gladiator gear with.

Yes to all of the above, except...start doing arenas NOW. Get your points, even if you are losing you still get points and can work on your upgrades. The points are too valuable to wait til you're 'ready' to start in on arena.

Obviously you will be swiss cheese in Arenas until you are properly geared for pvp, but you will get your points and, therefore, much needed upgrades.

Cheers!

:EDIT: And you will gain some valuable experience of how different classes play in Arena while you are gearing.

Eh... you probably won't live long enough to learn much until you've got a decent amount of gear on, but yes, you're absolutely right. It's a good idea to start earning your "mercy points" as soon as possible.

Ok! I'll try to find out where those rep vendors are for the blue set of 5 core items. Can someone tell me where to find them? [Sorry, i'm a little slow, being 40 years old with a baby, it acually took me a year and a half to get up to 70.]
Then with the honor and arena points that are building up, i'll get the other items to fill in. Thanks for that advice!

So my arena team TahoeTwo did indeed lose many games these past three weeks, but now we've bottomed out around 1240, sometimes dropping to 1200, or climbing to 1300. I'm with a hunter who has all the bg gear he needs, but no arena gear yet. In three weeks of playing (losing), we have about 900 points already.

Paul.

Ok, I found the Seer's Linked set
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=748
Is this what you were talking about for rep vendor gear?
Or is there another set?
Thanks. Paul.

The Rep PvP gear is from Thrallmar, Cenarion Expedition, Sha'tar, Lower City, and Keepers of Time.
