Mage TwinkFollow

This isn't a "what gears do I need" thread. Just a funny story.

I was on my sham in the lvl 40-49 bracket of WSG yesterday. There was a ally twink mage on the other team that was pom/pyro. Him alone made the game take almost 1 hour. As far as I could tell he could one shot everyone on my team. EVERYTIME we got the flag he'd just roll up, and one shot the flag carrier. Such a pain in my *** lol. Healing away at that warrior with the flag only to have him be waiting behind one of the stumps and destroy all the work we had just done with one push of a button.

We didn't win untill we started timing our runs within his pom CD.

I was wondering. Wouldn't your flag carrier run in a group with 4-5 other people? Once the 1st flag carrier gets taken down, the mage's PoM is on a 3 minute cooldown so someone else in the group picks up the flag and runs...?

presence of mind. has a 3 minute cooldown, your next spell with a cast time is an instant cast.

its more of a fire mage thing i guess then, b/c at least right now i cant see how that would help a frost or can it?

Instant cast pyroblast.

And yeah.. we had the flag runner in a group, but then a ally group close behind. It didn't happen everytime, but enough to be funny. And at one point we had the flag in our flag room and waiting to get ours back. He just rolled in killed the guy with the flag and capped it. He never really lived that long.. but only needed a few sec to do his job.

Get your FC some more healers, DPS dishers, and body guards. THEN see if that twink mage can take out the FC.

Well, none of that really helps when he can blink in, PoM Pyro, and Fire Blast in just 4.5 sec. Against other non-twinks, he's pretty much the Angel of Death every 3 min.

Then have a twink carry the flag. Or, more evilly, a twink mage with Molten Shields. Or, in a perfect world, a stamina focused, twinked Demo specced warlock with a Felpuppy out.

Or have rogues set up a blind macro for him. Or 'locks in with the deathcoil and follow up with the fears.

A couple of them are more "perfect world situations". But the rogues and the locks focusing on the guy for blinds/DC are definitely doable, and there are other options as well.

Interestingly enough, on my battlegroup, it is not uncommon to see twink "arms races" occur where one person will roll up a twink that performs extremely well for a few weeks only to have someone build an ultimate counter to him. It would only be a matter of time before that warlock I described was built for countering that mage.

PoM is actually quite handy for Polymorphing when every split-second counts.
