So I've spent a few weeks just kind of killing the random horde that my cross my path while I'm doing my fishing/cooking daily or making a fast 20+g on a stack of golden fishsticks...love that they increased the drop rate on those.....so nice.
So my question is, I've found that I've got some more time on my hands and would like to try raiding with my poor little hunter. I've been working off aethien's list and have gotten most of the items. Now yes before I get flamed for not having everything gemmed/enchanted I know that I need to work on that.
My question is on the shoulders. I'm currently patiently waiting for my beastlord shoulders to drop.....but losing patience quickly; I've got the towering mantle of the hunt which I'm currently wearing, and if memory serves me, I've also got the desolation ones as well. Now my question is, I know that my +hit rating is low and need to work on that, but will the beast shoulders help that? Plus I know that I need some more yellow gems to activate my meta gem when I purchase that in the next few days. Thanks for the help, and yes I know I also need to tweak my build terribly and plan on fixing that as well.

Use the Deso shoulders if you have them. That's another 52 hit rating right there with the 2 piece set bonus since you're wearing the gloves. You actually have enough yellow gems for your Meta, but you're lacking one blue (if I'm not too tired and just missing it).
Some other stuff to note:
Run BM for the hourglass, and SLabs for the Sonic Spear.
There's a quest reward in BEM (I think) for Natasha's Choker. Very nice neck with some good hit rating on it.
If I remember properly Sonic Spear, Natasha's choker, the Deso shoulders/set bonus, and the CE head enchant(Sonic Spear,Glyph of Ferocity, and the shoulders alone putting you at a very respectable pre-kara 132) would actually put you OVER hit capped giving you freedom to gem crit (or the off color gem of your choice) for yellow sockets.
With the proper spec you'd be good for the early parts of Kara now.
With the changes I mentioned you'd be good for a long ways into it.
With all enchants and Gems you'd probably hold your own through Prince.

thx for the help. Was running slabs daily for a while but got sick of waiting for murmur to drop that damn spear. Will check into the choker quest, think did it on my pally so I have an idea of the quest your talking about. The only problem is trying to find a group to run BM, seems like now that bliz has cut the key requirement for kara no one runs it, but thx for the idea tho.
Do whatever you can to get that trinket. It is hands down one of the better ones for a good long ways.
doing arena for the S3 axe is a very good alternative to the sonic.

Ah yes. I forgot the axe. I don't hate pvp, but I'd rather be doing just about anything else with my WoW time (most of the time anyway).

@OP The badge axe is very nice, and if you save a bit of honour up you'll be able to get the S2 shoulders when S4 starts. Good luck.
