i think a more pressing argument is the lore perspective; you can make a case for a death knight having enchanting abilities, blacksmithing, even leatherworking (and definetely alchemy). JC is a bit of a stretch, but possible as well.

however, cooking, first aid and fishing just dont sound right. it makes sense that a once-trusted servant of the lich king would learn how to enhance their own fighting ability with items or enchants of great power, but i somehow dont see battlefield triage as something a DK would really care about. why heal your minions when you can just slaughter more people and make new ones? more than that, what DK would have the time to fish, or cook? fishing and cooking dont exactly further the cause of the lich king, unless of course the lich king is trying to take over the aquatic realm and wants to start with sagefish and firefin snapper.

that, or the lich king has a weak spot for sushi. but thats only a rationale for fishing.

They could just simply be things you learnt before you became a DeathKnight.

Totally agree with all that you say. Some sort of compromise has to come with the skills. Who really wants to take a lvl 55 all the way back to lowbieville to train items and/or professions, I don't. Yes it's a good idea to start the NEW prof at lvl 1, but everything else I'd say 225 seems a reasonable number. Just have like a profession screen where you get to pick what you, primary/secondary with the lvls right there. If there's something you don't pick when u create the DK and go back to later, then yeah it should start at lvl 1 then.

I have been thinking about this. Imo the chances of Blizzard missing a golden opportunity for a money
sink vis a` vis the primary non gathering professions are two; 1) slim* and 2) none. Its with the
gathering professions that I really see a problem. My guess is that they will not give anything away.

The secondaries are another matter. There you may find some giftage. But my guess is not.

*I hear Slim's got a ticket out of town on the 4:30 bus.

i dont think think that blizzard will give the DKs any money, otherwise, i would create a DK, send money to main, delete DK, start another DK, send money to main...rinse and repeat.

Hopefully this hasnt already been said, but...
People are saying "blizzard isnt going to hand out free leveled professions"
But hey, you're getting a free level 55 character, is it really a streach to say that it can start out with level 225 or so profs as well?

Although i agree with a payment method, 500g for a crafting prof, maybe 200g for a gathering or so, that you can get for a DK...just so we dont have to waste that precious time leveling and getting to 80 for our guilds...
