Need gear help.Follow

#1 May 21 2008 at 1:31 PM Rating: Default
I am currently in a guild that could barely handle Shattered Halls. Most of the people are just now hitting 70 so i've done pugs where I can to try to get gear. But it seems I have hit a wall as far as which instances I can get into with the gear I currently have. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can improve my gear by rep, crafting or questing unil the other folks in my guild catch up a bit? Also any other advice is appreciated.

Look at the sticky at the top, pre-raid gearlist. Tons of craftables, and gear from non-heroics.

Actually, by the looks of your gear, you should be ready for Kara. Just re-gem and re-enchant a bit.

I've noticed that my +hit is rather low. Would +hit gems be my best bet?

if you're not hit capped hit gems are the best.

If you can anticipate getting gear with hit, it might be better to just use ap gems. plan out what gear you want in the near future and base your decisions off that. The gear list is excellent.

Arm says that your hit is at 10, which is horrible. You need to be at 142, w/o having/being a draenei, and having surefooted. I'm not sure what the cap is with draenei.

If you're not raiding any time soon, then don't worry about being hit capped. Once you start stepping into Kara is when you need to start worrying about it.

lvl 70 -> 5% hit = 80 hit
lvl 71 -> 5.5% hit = 96 hit
lvl 72 -> 6% hit = 104 hit
lvl 73 and Raid bosees -> 9% hit -> 142

That's the chart for how much hit rating you need to have to never miss a mob level 70 and above.

Ditto what others said about getting more hit.

You might as well start taking care of it now. It will take some effort to get hit capped. Waiting until you're in Kara before worrying about it is too late.

Also, your stamina is way higher than you need for raiding. Some of it is from your PvP gear, which is fine for now. But, you also have some enchant, gem, and glyph issues.

1 - Get to revered with Cenarion Expedition asap. You're close, just a couple SV runs off. Get the Glyph of Ferocity for you head slot. It's 34 AP and 16 Hit, which is a lot more useful than the Stam/Resil glyph you have now.

2 - Get Agility enchants on your gloves and boots.

3 - Gem your chest piece and get the +6 All Stats enchant. (You might consider getting the Felstalker Breastplate, since you already have 2/3 of the set. Set bonus is +20 hit. You could even bank the Ebon for later.)

4 - I'd replace the Stam gem on the belt with an Agi gem. And, upgrade green-quality gems to blue-quality.

5 - You might consider getting Bloodlust Brooch for 41 Badges to replace your Mark of Conquest.

6 - Looks like you do a lot of BGs, so consider the PvP boots to replace yours. At least until something better comes along in Kara or elsewhere.

Just a few suggestions. Good luck.

Thanks for the help folks. I've changed gems around and am getting some agility enchants. I won't be running Kara anytime soon but i'll be ready when I get there.

Do the daily cooking quest. Eventually you'll get rewarded with a couple nice recipes.

Kibler's Bits gives your pet a nice buff that'll help his tanking / DPS.

Spicy Hot Talbuk gives a +20 to hit buff. I use that for bosses and warp burgers or ravager dogs for trash.

Seconded. Working on your Hit Rating (now 47, grats) will improve your DPS more than any other focus can. And it brings with it a lot of intangibles: mana efficiency, as a missed special shot still costs mana; threat, as a missed MD shot fails to provide the tank with aggro; wipe prevention, as a missed concussive fails to slow the mob chewing on your healer, &cet.

You've got a decent amount of gems you could easily swap out for +Hit Rating gems. Go for the Sonic Spear or the Honor Hold rep spear or the S3 Arena spear. And learn what stats Hunters need, your Time-bending Gem is not a Hunter ring. There are far better quest rewards, even for PvP, which seems to be a focus for you. PvP is fine, but just be aware that the gear you get from Arenas and BGs can supplement but not replace the gear you get from raids. There are a few exceptional Arena pieces. And a few Arena and BG pieces which are very competitive with PvE gear. But for the most part you're gimping your ability to sustain your DPS over time by wearing PvP gear, as it is lacking in INT and MP/5.

Can anyone give me advise on some pvp (BG) reward gear?

I am in a small server and currently only lvl 59 but I want to get all my marks and honor up while I'm decked out at 59 so I can have decent gear at 70. Can someone recommend the best pvp gear (in a list) for me. I'm still a little new to WoW (only 3 months played). I'm a Marksman spec Dwarf Hunter.

It would take FOREVER to grind out the honor/marks needed for 70 gear at 59. You're better off just moving into OL. When you get to 70 there are the reputation reward pieces which make some pretty good pvp starter sets. If you do the pvp daily every day though you should be able to pick up a couple of pieces of S2 by the time you 70 pretty easily (more if you are a slower leveler).

If you want to raid at 70 though PVPing isn't the best way to get you gear, though it can prop up your weaker areas generally.

You get the same three tokens for a win at 19th as you do at 70th. The Honor difference is key, but it does not decay and if you can avoid spending any while you enjoy your weekend bonus PvP and PvP daily quest then you can have a decent amount of Honor sandbagged for when you hit 70.

It all depends on what your goals and play style is. If you love PvP and are going to play it while getting to 70, go for it. If you just want to get to 70 as fast as possible, then waiting until then to start your PvP is probably the better plan. Once you hit Honored with several of the Outland factions you'll have access to a decent 'starter kit' of PvP gear which can help you out while you're earning Honor and tokens.
