Comparing Gear Stats pre-70.Follow

I've got to the stage where I've upgraded much of my gear to Outland greens and the odd blue. I'm now beginning to get my second quest reward for some of the items, which influence my stats in different ways but one doesn't seem to be clearly better than another.

For example, I have two helms; Scout's Hood and Clefthoof Hide Mask. One gives me increased +agi, the other increased +sta but decreases the other stat. One increases my AP, the other my crit rating. I have gemmed up the Scout's Hood from the gem vendor, seeing no point in buying expensive stuff from the AH for stuff that will be replaced in a couple of levels.

I've looked over the forums and at the various spreadsheets, but they only really tell you how to compare items at level 70. Is there a formula I can apply to tell which would boost my DPS most? Or perhaps I should be concentrating on one stat at the expense of all others?

The advice on these forums has turned me from a total noob to a mouse turning, key bound bundle of kill, so further assistance would be gratefully received.

Take the hood. It has agi as well as hit and gem slots.

Mental Frog - many thanks and I shall equip the hood.

However, and the OP might not have made this clear, I was looking for more general advice on how to rate and therefore equip items which affect your stats differently, but one is not clearly better than the other.

So, in the above example, why is agi plus hit and gem slots better than sta plus AP?

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish - in this case it's leveling, so PVE.

You want to max your +hit first, then gear +AGI, then AP (AGI gives you AP and Crit chance). For example, the THIS is fairly cheap and should work well. If you're short on cash, here's what I'd gem for the hood:

Yellow
Red
Blue

Go HERE for more info on Gems

These are all gems you can get for 2 or 3 gold, or have a JC make for you on the cheap, most will have stacks of the uncut gems. I only put up the 3 in color order because you'll get the socket bonus. Of course I could be completely off base, I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will correct me :)

Err, for soloing, hit gear is a waste, since most of your damage is going to come from yellow hits.

I usually go with my PvP set for soloing, because not much lives beyond 110 energy.

A lot of it comes down to what you want to do. PVE is different than PVP and soloing is different than grouping/raiding.

When it all comes down to it then most of it isn't a huge deal until 70.

Agility adds to your ap and your crit and even dodge.

Hit gets the most benefit from fighting higher level mobs. This is mostly the case in group instances or raids.

Stamina isn't a huge issue for rogues. Rogues are more about damage and burning down the target a.s.a.p. and stamina doesn't add to your dps. My experience has been that focusing on dps gear and stamina gets thrown in the mix here and there. You'll get enough stamina to survive most encounters. The trick is burning down the mobs faster.

Stamina and resilience play a much bigger role in pvp. However even in this case I'd still go for more dps. The sooner you level to 70 the better off you'll be. Increased DPS will get you there faster than anything else.

Basically the agi and +hit means you're adding to your hit, ap and crit to up your dps. You also have empty gem slots to add whichever stats you want. With the other piece it's just stamina and ap.
